Yeah for example, if you use the Physics Swap mod, you’ll notice that SA1 Sonic & SA2 Sonic are identical.

You have way better control over sonic in SA1, SA2 is more of a spectacle but I care more about the gameplay than presentation. I like SA2 but it was a sign of things to come with levels being too linear wereas SA1 levels were way more open and you can find hidden goodies everywhere, like for example the three item boxes right behind you in emerald coast. The treasure hunter levels in SA2 were open with a lot of exploration... but they kind of had to be.
