In fact, I believe it’s unclear whether AlphaZero was ever stronger under typical conditions than the state-of-the-art version of Stockfish at the time- in the famous match, an old version of SF was used, they gave both sides a minute per move (which nullified SF’s huge time-management advantage), and I believe the hardware used favored SF somewhat.

Wumpus makes strange mistakes which can be overcome if playing a human . But against Stockfish well one mistake is generally fatal .

A mistake is going too far...a few inaccuracies are enough to lose the game in classical format against stockfish.

One mistake is too much in chess. Such an insane line to casually say but is makes you understand the difference between top level players and mere mortals. They would be able to punish the slightest mistake. I bet e5 and a4 were inaccuracies too not actual mistakes.
