I've found a weird method that works, I simply stare at my wall for 30 minutes with no distractions, which I guess makes my brain so bored it begs me to study, but it really works in improving my focus and attention span

TIPS 1. Dont read the textbook instead do practice questions or chapter summary. 2. Meditate (Let the cloud go) , Write your distraction PHYSICALLY on a paper while studying . 3. Run sprints not miles (Set goals in small tasks) 4. Stop giving a crap (become hyper obssessed instead of focusing on the bg noise)

An important thing not mentioned here is that momentum in studying and focus is important. Like starting to run. It’s slow and hard initially, but then it’s easier and you get speed. Even if focus is not initially there, keep pushing until you are rolling. Also resting is important because energy is needed for this.

I had one of the hardest exam today I was so afraid and my preparation level was less than 50% and I was having anxiety for the last week for failing and I just couldn't help myself studying but just before 1 day of exam I said fuck this I didn't come here to regret or leave in fear and I gave it my all solving questions and revising all night and learning answers till I get to the center and enter my room and I tell you literally 80% of questions came from the questions set I did just the day before the moment I read the questions I thanked God I then myself that I did not give up. Conclusion: Do not give up until the end😜 just believe in yourself and you can do it.

It's fine to have friends with whom there is never focus and it's impossible to study - they might be friends with whom you can have fun, and fun is important too! My friend group from uni was like that, and apart from just ignoring them when you can't leave as you suggest, I also learned that when I want to focus and work hard I have to be alone at the library or at home. But when I want to have a study break where I truly relax and laugh, that's when I can have lunch with one of these friends. In my first year of uni I lacked focus and purpose and I would let them distract me and we would even ditch class together, which of course affected my grades. But once I started caring about what I was doing and focusing on, and I just spent time studying away from them, I found I could still be friends with them even though some of you might say we didn't share the same values - we share enough values that I still find worth in their friendship, and they are actually all hard workers in their own way. But the bottom line is, going your own way and putting efforts into your own focus will have better results than fighting with your friends.
@wamyy5
@wamyy5 11 ай бұрын
Ya I agree that your friends should be fun. What I mean is that if your friends share your same values, it’s easier to self-improve and they will listen when you set boundaries.

Wow, Amy. The wait was worth it! All four tips were truly helpful, specially the cloud one and the timer one? Finally! Someone says it, not that it's completely useless, maybe it works for some people, but for others? The run sprints, I think that's why we like videogames so much, they usually have the bar of progress, that can act as a deadline. Like always, such an awesome video, thank you for it! 😊

There’s something I like to do when looking for solutions for any problem I have which is to see the negative side of my problem For example if I wanted to love something I hate and be obsessed with it I will look to the things I am already obsessed with and see why and what made me obsessed with it and why I can’t let go of it After that I try to apply this method to the thing I try to love and it really works❤

Emotion from what I've observed, control focus, or gives that ability to incredibly focus on one thing. Some times, just take some time off to zen meditate and observe nature, for naute might explain what we are learning. Daydreaming is a mistake, but anger doesn't help as you said. Rather understand what provokes the thought. With practice, we realize that thoughts are nothing more than mental energry. Then we can learn to use them at our will. Your first tactics work, but it might just lead to finishing the work without understanding the full content. It is a process, but we can easily ask the teachers or people we know about the strrange questions we have.

@@HumanHuman. Yeah you're quick, but presume the possibility of actual mental energy, and meditate, on that possible reality. Intellectual perception isn't reality in this case, it is conscious understanding, like touching water or fire. Gl.

The second tip seemed like what I really needed. I'll try keeping a little journal handy from now on. And while the first is useful sometimes, it doesn't really help with the situation I'm in, cause I had to pick up a new subject out if the blue, and I have no homework on it cause normally by now, everyone should be done with their syllabus. So I only have a textbook and hope of past questions to study with. But yeah, it really does help to ask yourself questions on the topic BEFORE you start reading, because it brings out the ideas your brain already has on it,; but if you read first, you often find yourself trying to just stuff in the information the textbook has, and then when you read the questions, you just try to pour out what you read, and even if you try to come up with your own ideas, it gets a lot harder, and it's like your mind is blank. I hardly ever noticed this before, except once or twice, so thank you for mentioning it, and helping me put the pieces together.

Hiii Amyyyyy how are you? Im so happy you uploaded this videooo!!Its absolutely amazing! Honestly, one thing that always scared me was reading the textbook because as I was reading it, i would forget the previous concepts and then i would get mad for not being able to remember what i had read but then I also started to do questions with it or past papers and that really really helps+sometimes (mostly in physics)while reading the concepts and trying to understand it just feels like i heard myself reading from one ear and from the other it went out haha and in that case your tip 1 of doing questions and reading summaries is really really helpful! And that mind wandering part when you're trying to focus is sooo relateable and i face this issue while im trying to revise and in that case i write just one keyword of the thought and then that i may do that thing later and it also gives you like a sense of reward for finishing the work. 'Run sprints, not miles' I AGREE WITH THIS SOO MUCH-And i think most people just set like a big goal like the end goal and then it gets overwhelming because they feel like the goal is really far, but with ending lines and giving yourself a reward after doing each task is very beneficial because you get to enjoy the process of working towards the goal! And the 4th tip is soo soo important because i think most of us fall in this trap of 'others opinions' and though it can be hard to not care it is also very important to remember that it is easy to do what everyone else does but what really sets you apart from the average is when you put in more work and choose a different path which is going to lead you to future success! Amyyyy, thank you sooo much for this videooo!!! Honestly, your video quality has increased so much and the editing is also really good+ the advices are always THE BEST!! Congratulations on 137k subscribers!!

Thanks Amy for another awesome video. Here is my attempt to summarize tip 1 of this video. 1) No, Amy does not mean don’t read the textbook, but rather how to read a textbook. She suggests to read them by chapter summaries, bolded words, practice problems or refer to the assignment your teacher gave you and read the sections in the textbook that pertain to the problem at hand; then to fill in any knowledge gaps, read the textbook normally, because by this time we have some idea of what is in the textbook so our absorption will likely be better. And Amy, I am sure you will do well if you decide to go back to University.
@uvideo100

Here is my attempt to summarize tip 2. 2) If random thoughts, useful but irrelevant to what one was currently focusing on come to our mind, write them briefly somewhere to be dealt later, then quickly come back to the task at hand. Track your time. Bonus: we can download Amy’s time tracker workbook tool for free given in a link below the video.

Then borrow the book from one of the scholarship students in class, photocopy those chapters, and read just those bits for all my classes. It's how I maintained over a 4.0 taking a full class load and working full-time. Some semesters I did that while having to go through cancer treatments. 😅 It will keep you on task with many book based classes.

I sincerely believe Shaun watching football match when you studied, helped you become a machine (I faced similar issue at home). You should give him a high five 🙋‍♂

Actually,my biggest problem isn't lack of focus.it's dreading the work.for example,if I told myself I would study after lunch,I start eating my lunch real slow as to avoid it.and when the lunch does end,I'm procrastinating. Btw all your videos are super helpful you're like the big sister that I never had I'm one of your teen fans thanks so much😊😊😊😊

1) stop all craps -dont overthinking those unimportant things 2)read the simplier summaries fisrt 3)set ur anticipation low 4)let out ur thoughts(exp:write it out) and accept them.

Hellooooooo Amy! To be honest, I liked all of them! But trick number two, let the cloud go, stood out to me the most. I usually daydream, a lot across! (Pssssttttt! Young me had gone through so much trouble in primary school because of daydreaming too much! 😹 But, it's under control now!) I love how you elaborated it to us, "Acknowledge its existence and give it just enough attention". Thank you so much! 💜
