If you're ever in south Chicago, stop by the Restvale Cemetery at Alsip, IL and give a reverent visit to McKinley Morganfield. "Muddy" is at rest to the rear and left of the entrance. His burial marker is a flat marker which is counter sunk and tends to flood during the wetter months. The trip is well worth the diversion of the big city. There are a number of blues greats here. Hound Dog Taylor, Doc Clayton, Sweetwater Clifton, Jazz Gillum, Shakey Horton, J.B. Hutto, Little Johnny Jones, Magic Sam Maghett, Papa Charlie McCoy, Pinetop Smith, etc. The front office has a map with plot numbers to these blues men and others for visitors.

I saw Muddy and Johnny each at small and larger venues. And then once together for a memorable night at Auditorium Theatre in Chicago after the release of Muddy’s Hard Again album on which Johnny produced and played on.

@@bradsense7431Oh, My, Gosh, Lucky You!! I didn’t see either and I’m so jealous, Johnny only lived one state away and I’m sure he played Tulsa many times. Wasn’t on my radar back then, huge regret.

Same here. Can you believe Muddy Waters played at Lincoln Center in NY in maybe 1975. There was a blues festival that played out over 3 weekends. Hounddog Taylor and Howling Wolf also played there. 🎙️🎸🌃

Very nice of Burt Sugarman to put him on. I always wondered if Chuck Berry had anything to do with it since Muddy and Chess Records got him his start.

Loved it when Muddy played “Baby Please Don’t Go” with Keith Richards, Ronnie Wood and Mick Jagger at the Checkerboard Lounge, Chicago in 1981, it’s on YT. Muddy’s definitely Da Man!! and what an influence!! 🎉🎉❤

Muddy was one of the greatest, along with Howlin'Wolf or BB King! Saw him 1977 in Germany. He opened for Eric Clapton and stole the show😁🎶🇫🇷

Was so fortunate to have seen him. Living in Australia put a lot of live performances out of reach, but Muddy came to play in the early 70's and i saw him in Sydney. Brilliant evening.
