I've owned a used 2022 Limited Ioniq 5 for about 8 months and its absolutely blown me away living in Colorado. I consistently and easily get 320-340 miles of range moving through all of Colorado. Driving in eco mode disengages the front motor and gains serious efficiency with just the back motor. If you know how to drive this car, it's the best in the class

Cyber beast won’t have issues, as its range is longer then the Cybertruck TFL currently owns. This is only a challenge for budget EV’s with a smaller battery and thus limited range; they own a Leaf, so that is a no-brainer for this trial. Might even be a challenge for the i8 due to the small engine needing to run hard, but I doubt it as it has quite a bit of gas to pull from.

I have a 2023 Ioniq 5 SEL AWD and have put on around 5,000 miles. You may have been able to increase your efficiency a bit more had you not used I-Pedal regen mode. In I-Pedal regen the front motor is always engaged. If you keep it in regen mode 3 or less it shuts down the front motor and only uses the rear motor which helps increases efficiency. I have tested it both ways and find I get better range in Normal mode and Regen 3. My lifetime average is 3.4 miles per kilowatt. That includes going through an entire Minnesota winter. I will also agree with you had the lane centering is not very good. I find myself shutting it off more times then I use it.

Had our Iconiq for about a week. Wife is loving it. Traded in her 2017 CrV touring. IMO the most useless feature is the glass roof. But then again, she rarely opened the CrV moon roof any way. Just hoping she’s careful parking it, her old wheels had a few curb encounters. The Ioniq’s wheels will be a disaster. Not gonna be getting rid of my Ridgeline anytime soon. Definitely getting a home charger. Using the app to search for charging stations seems that most of the local ones are out of service or rated as L2.

I own an identical IONIQ 5, same trim, same colors even. Lane Keep Assist (HDA2) is one of its best features, it just works almost all the time. It does like to hug the left side of the lane slightly but you get used to it, no need to correct like shown in this video. The only real drawbacks I can report are the cargo cover that sits too low when in use (can barely fit a costco bag under there) and the Bose stereo system that's not very good at all (gotta set the MIDS slider to the far left in Settings to get acceptable sound). Otherwise, great car!

I was glad to see that you did this trail in my car's TWIN! I would have driven that round trip a little differently. I always use i-Pedal, but then engage the adaptive cruise control which drops the regen back to Level 3 until I "pause" it -which reengages i-Pedal. I would have therefore gotten more regen on those sharp 20 mph curves by pausing cruise and then resuming it on the straighter roads. Also, I really like the Ioniq 5's "lane keep" ability. No, it doesn't take CONTROL of the car, and expects YOU to assist it -like in my previous Tesla. HDA-II leaves YOU in control, but then assists YOU with the steering. Much better, IMHO. You can thus steer around roadkill, potholes, tumbleweeds, and steer slightly further away from trucks too close to the lines as you pass them. The system then resumes keeping you in the lane and at the cruise control speed after you pass those obstacles with no problem. In the Tesla… manually steering like that would CANCEL Autopilot, and then you'd have to reset it all over again. HDA-II is a better, more comfortable, safer driver assistance system, as long as you realize that YOU are the designated driver, but have a good "assistant" to help you. BTW, when you arrived at the top your energy efficient was 2.2 miles-per-kWh; when you returned, it had risen to a solid 3.7 miles-per-kWh. That's hard to beat!
@Cloud30000
@Cloud30000 Ай бұрын
The brakes still max out regen, so as long as the max regen slows it without needing mechanical brakes than the actual regen would be the same; you just didn’t need to use the brake pedal to achieve it. Lane keep assist is much different than lane centering; it is not meant to steer at all, but simply to prevent you drifting into a different lane. It’s more like the rumble strips on the side of the road than ADAS systems. You might consider it a better system, but Alex appears to adamantly disagree.
@Yanquetino
@Yanquetino Ай бұрын
@@Cloud30000 Alex is free to disagree, as he prefers the car to take control of steering. I don't, but I really like that it can assist me when needed. As for regen, I've found that it is indeed the strongest when i-Pedal is engaged: I can FEEL it increase.

The lane assist should be able to work just off 1 indicator and not 2 like how it is now. This is why HDA II isn' the best and it doesn't warm you when it's off as well.
