I would assume that doing that many holes back to back was the problem. As the battery warms up from use it gets less efficient and wears down quicker. You should track it over several outings with regular use and see what it adds up to

that was a REAL test , thank you, as weekend ice fisherman in New Mexico, YES I said NM, we do have ice in northern nm and southern Colorado. good fishing to. but I been looking at this particular auger for a while. end of season, found a clearance on these and purchased one, will use it this December, I don't think I ever drilled that many holes in the ice, and don't plan on it. your video gives a real look, again, thank you!!!!!!

I love mine. Bought it back in November and it's done everything I have asked it to do. I haven't tried to see if it would drill 50 holes but it doesn't matter to me. Pretty rare I would drill that many holes in a day anymore. Love how light it is and just like you said... it rips! Best ice fishing purchase since my vexilar in 2007.
@BryanProkuski3 жыл бұрын
Awesome! Ya I would never drill this many holes on a normal outing either so the 24V works awesome for me. Cant beat the weight and not smelling like gas. She rips for sure! Happy with me purchase for sure.

Like anything that is rated for X, it’s done in a controlled environment under the best possible conditions. I’ll be honest, I’m surprised it did 30 holes. I’m very impressed!

I will be purchasing one of these units next season. I was going to go with an Eskimo pistol bit, but with the bit and buying the proper drill, I will actually be spending more than just buying one of these strikmasters. Just makes more sense and it looks like it will drill way more holes than I’ll ever need.
@eddiemiles19202 жыл бұрын
I think it depends on the outside temp. They probably did it on a warm day, probably not even below 0c when they did the 50 holes

next year i think i will sell my old gas auger and buy one of these. I don't mind the smaller voltage as i generally never drill that many holes. Could always buy a second battery if need be. Thanks for the demo.
@BryanProkuski3 жыл бұрын
You are welcome. It is a very nice unit. I was happy to switch from my gas auger to this. Worked great all year. Like you said always could by extra battery but for how I fish one battery was plenty.

Yeah thanks for the video, after the outing I had this morning where my buddy's Jiffy pro4 propane hose leak and my Mako 43CC had internal gas tank hose jus desinagrate we are both done with gas augers n both of ours are less than 5 years old!! I am considering this one after seeing ur video and I agree with another comment in here about drilling all those holes puts strain on the battery. I think if you woulda drilled like 6,7 then wait like you decided to move a few times it would do it. I wouldn't drill 50 holes ever in 1 sitting so it wouldn't be an issue plus being just a 24V battery I would suspect that they aren't all that expensive so I'll be picking this one up as soon as my Eskimo is sold. 😊
@BryanProkuski2 жыл бұрын
I agree with you. The constant hole drilling was a stress test for sure. Slower approach would of lasted longer and more holes. Either way like I said , way more holes then ever need at once. Went all season this year with no issue. Great auger and love how light it is. Electric is where its at!
@rltkktlr3 жыл бұрын
Great to see that Bryan nice work! I wonder if drilling many in a short time is shortens the battery, plus the cold temps. Sure they have some perfect conditions to come up with their 800” of ice. Also is that 800” they advertise for the 8” auger? Would not effect me however, too much work drilling that many holes! Thanks for sharing. Take care. Bob
@candykaneish14 жыл бұрын
Wow that’s still a lot of holes I’d say that’s close to the best auger on the market right now!

I just got one! Unfortunately even after the battery was full and only 5” Ice it kept cutting out on me , taking it back to get a new one , maybe it’s defective!?

Sweet! Ya let us know. I think that one rates for 100 holes?
@owengomes99272 жыл бұрын
I get between 500 and 700 inches to a full charge with mine and the 700 is days above freezing. They are great little augers but Strikemaster definitely makes unrealistic claims at 50 16” holes I thought it might just be me but seems my numbers are the norm. This is still my favorite auger and I bought a second battery because I do a lot of hole hopping.

Well that’s a dispointnment I get 30 plus holes with my cordless drill that granted it’s a 6 inch auger but that’s only on one 1.5 amp battery this is on 14 inches of ice and with a 4amp I get double

lol.. rather be lazy. Drilling them holes back to back, never want to do again. I was tired lol. Did you end up getting the 24v then?
@ripptydevibes25813 жыл бұрын
Im surprised they dont make them with larger batteries. My Ridgid Octane/Eskimo Pistol Bit combo drills triple that at several lbs lighter. Not that we need so much battery, but for me id say 50 holes is marginal. Sometimes we drill that much or more. Wonder what the spare Battery costs, my combo comes in at like $500 lol, electric is not cheap but the weight difference does it!

Same here! Only did it to see what the max was. Probably drill 4-8 holes an outing. Unless I chase panfish then I feel like I drilled 100 when really its only like 20 lol.

@@BryanProkuski agreed. With the auger being so light and not expensive like the 40v and ion r1. Flexible flite ect I think this one works best for me . Great video brother!

@TSniper794 жыл бұрын
Went out yesterday and drilled 7 holes on 30 inches of ice. The temp was -19. The battery got 1 bar of life left after just those 7 holes. If my calculations are correct. I could've drilled 12 more holes before the battery died. Definitely not close to what SM is claiming.
@bk03333 жыл бұрын
There isn’t a battery on this earth that is going to work in -19 degree weather. Have you noticed how cars don’t start or have issues when it gets this cold😂
@lookingforthetruth3 жыл бұрын
12 more holes? Do you mean 5 more(?), which wouldn't make sense. Even 12 total would be inaccurate. In reality, you would've probably been able to get 1.5-2 more holes. In -19° you should be glad that battery worked at all lol
@CoolWhipp-hy1qu3 жыл бұрын
They were probably drilling their holes in 8”
@BryanProkuski3 жыл бұрын
Right! Either way math should come out the same but when its feet thick like this day it's definitely going wear the battery more for sure. Still more holes then I ever need so I am still happy so far.
