@@lara2937 It has potential but the copycats will be a main issue if she wants to keep a good margin. She probably does not have a good enough legal team and experience to help solve the issue. Lori's QVC also guarantee her sells in the future. There is a high risk that without Lori's help, her sales will keep sliding and eventually to many copycats will take over while she doesn't have enough resource to combat that.

Sometimes the peanut gallery like Cuban helps the business owner. Sometimes you get so emotionally attached to be a business, you can't see it objectively (made that mistake myself). That 50% offer was such a great offer for a few reasons. The young lady has absolutely no "take it to market" strategy, just convinced she will catch lightning in a bottle again, and the sales were on a downward spiral. Without Lauri, this company was going under and on top of that, she wouldn't even have the money behind her to fight for her patents in court. It was an offer that made sense for everyone.

My problem with these offers is they don’t take into account the value of cash in the bank and/or inventory in stock. Lori just got a complete free roll on the business, because the current stock will sell for $500k, of which 40% is 200k. She could make her money back by doing zero work.

The problem is that she is a inventor without any business strategy, she has products and waiting for one more viral moment to sell it off. She would be able to sell all of her inventory after the episode went live. But what after that? That were lorry comes in. I think she made a decision in hurry she should have asked for more.

This is a problem that a lot of engineers have. Great products but no marketing plan or accounting skills.
