At 6:20 why should it matter if it's hissing or ringing..? I don't understand that?

This may sound crazy, but I have convinced myself that anyone around me is hearing the same sounds that I am hearing. Being outside helps because there are so many natural sounds such as the wind, traffic, birds, distant construction sounds, etc., that I forget that I have Tinnitus until I come in to a quiet place. Thanks for the news that Tinnitus is not wiping my brain cells.

Thank you Doctor Ben for all your great work. I completed your 7 day course and I do feel better. However, in the UK, the fireworks have been going off since the middle of October, which was one of the worst causes. I do have stress - who doesn't, but I feel I manage it better. I try zinc and magnesium and it seems to reduce the severity. Can't do much about the fireworks, although I invested in Loop ear plugs. I am on HRT too so I expect that has a possible effect. Thank you for your kind and soothing voice - it really does help.

For me sleep has a major impact on my tinnitus. The problem is I hardly ever get good nights sleep. It's something that is just part of my life by now after decades of it. That makes the whole tinnitus situation particularly difficult.
@yafet021Ай бұрын
how long have you had your T for?
@treblehealthАй бұрын
Sleep and tinnitus often go hand in hand, and it’s tough when poor sleep makes tinnitus worse. You might try sound therapy or relaxation techniques to create a more restful environment, or consult with a sleep specialist for support. Even after decades, there are strategies that can help improve both your sleep and tinnitus management. We'd be happy to help. Thank you for these explanations, which make sense. A podcast such as this gives people hope rather than making a statement such as tinnitus damages the brain. My father had it, I've got it and so has my son. Most of the time we have learned to ignore it. Interesting - I'm a tooth grinder at night apparently. I have slight hearing loss.

I always thought it was the other way around, that the brain is damaged by something, and then the tinnitus starts.

Diagnosed with severe insomnia years ago. Learned to manage that somewhat then about 3 years ago the tinnitus came in especially at night. So severe I couldn’t read, listen to music anything! Also started having headaches, neck issues, abdominal issues. Saw every specialist for every body system. Told I needed to sleep, you have anxiety etc . Began having labile b/p and now passing out. I have now been diagnosed with some form of dysautonomia. My life has come to a screeching halt. No church, shopping, friends or most importantly spending time with grandkids. Have you dealt with tinnitus and dysatonomia together?

How about making sure to keep potassium up. Below 4 is too low - even though it’s above bottom the range And how about foods like iced teas and other high salicylate , high Oxalate foods which are a major issue today. I see hundreds of people who get tinnitus from high oxalate , high salicylate diet. Oxalates also accumulate in the thyroid - see pubmed for studies that show high vascularization in the thyroid. This is due to autoimmune disorders like Graves and Hashi’s. People can hear the venous hum in their head from blood flow through thyroid Removing berries and teas , spinach , nuts, teas and coffee can be a BIG help. Especially bad : teas , coffee and chocolate.

I'm forty-two and I've had tinnitus for as long as I can remember, it sounds like a high pitched tone and it feels like it's deep inside my head. My tinnitus has been a constant high pitched modulating tone with a slight rapid modulation, causing receptive dysphasia like symptoms.

I have tinnitus from various activities; drumming, guns, auto/construction tools, concerts…i used ear protection about half the time. About 17k hertz hiss/squeal 24/7 both ears…. I manage fairly well but--i have noticed that when i have higher stress/anxiety it gets much louder. For anyone suffering; follow these folks advice. What works for me is: Calming activity. Other noise/din around me. Background sounds while i work. Sound-bed of thunderstorm on youtube on TV(blackscreen) AND VIOLET noise high frequency on my cell same time. 2 noise sources/types is superior to one in my experience. Good luck and chin up

Supposedly, a recent Harvard study concluded that severe tinnitus causes cognative impairment.
@treblehealthАй бұрын
Severe tinnitus leading to cognitive impairment is more likely due to those pulling away from family and social gatherings due to interferring tinnitus.

Im sorry but Im afraid tinnitus will kind of cause brain damage in the long run. Not straight but as a mediator since it causes depression and all kind of overloading. depression diminishes hippocampus in the long run, at least in some people. So there is a connection but its really hard topic since also living sedentary life will caues you brain damage in the long run, some does bad diet. And yes Im cpecialixed in brain damages and TBI.
