I think VMax is giving Apollo a good run for their money if you need a scooter as a reliable form of transportation as opposed to a fun toy. If Apollo didn’t come out with the Go I almost certainly would have gotten a VMax. The Go climbs like a mountain goat, has full suspension for the broken pavement around town, and the tiny handlebars means it takes up less space at work

I’ve got 1200+ miles on my VX4 GT. It really is a solid scooter. Great for long rides and commuting. It does great on roads and packed trails. I rarely fold it so the latch doesn’t bother me. The only problem I’ve had is flat tires. Can’t blame the company for that.

When suspension can be forfeited in a commuter scooter, It would be difficult to find a better set of attributes outside of the VX2 GT and VX2 EXT GT, with their 768Wh and 792Wh batteries respectively. At 47lbs they provide so much freedom when you don't have a specific door to door route and just want to explore. For the role of trunk vacation scooter, I relinquished the suspension feature when I purchased the the VX2 GT over the Apollo Go. Obviously a terrific scooter but with its 540Wh battery and 17-19mi range, I anticipated being limited when it came to my sightseeing freedom. The VX2 GT has served in this role very well having done 38-39mi cruises but admittedly, if Apollo ever made a 720Wh version of the Go, I'd buy it in a heartbeat! Speaking of that, if Segway ever puts a more useful battery in the ZT3 and gave it 2-3mph more speed, I'd buy it too! It seems a shame to make such an interesting "sport activity scooter" with 11" tires, capable suspension, app rich with good looks then handcuff it with a 597Wh battery. It costs so little in engineering and materials to transform it into something versatile and great, we're literally talking about an extra row of cells and 1.6lbs. Oh well, perhaps in the next iteration. :)
@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide14 күн бұрын
Dude, you're always so spot-on! 100% agree about the ZT3 feeling so close to what everyone wants it to be. I can live with the ~25mph, but it really feels like it deserves just a little more battery. -Paul
@Patriot3614 күн бұрын
@@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide Now that you mention it, the speed wouldn't have been a deal breaker for me when the ZT3 was introduced a couple of months ago. You know how when you spend available funds on something else, all of a sudden the specification requirements go up for the thing you didn't purchase...haha. I bought something recently and I think that speed requirement got unconsciously shoved in there :D Btw, I picked up the Punk Rider Pro through Fluid Freeride as it's on sale for $999. I find it mostly easy to temper my new scooter enthusiasms because I have a small collection of them and can remain fairly objective. With that stated, this might have been the most significant scooter bargains I've picked up in 3 years. I can't believe how nice the fit and finish are as well as the overall performance and range. It mimics the Apollo City closely in performance but without its price tag. The suspension isn't as outstanding as the City's but it's really, really good for a cartridge system! I just finished a 29mi night ride and arrived home with 51.0V remaining. For 3-4 months I've been considering getting a high value scooter for my brother and after having received the Rider Pro, it's hard for me to think about the other's I was weighing in the mix. We might have a winner.

Great comparison, Paul! The VX4 circumnavigation of San Francisco is still one of my favorite scooter videos. At similar maintained speeds, I think the GX2 would be another similarly priced, comfort contender for that ride (not including the 10mi done after the loop).
@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide14 күн бұрын
I wrote up this super detailed response, and then accidentally hit the back button. I even downloaded and opened old range tests so I could give you accurate answers... oh well. The gist of it was, I think you're right the GX2 would probably just make that lap of SF. My range test of the VX4 was significantly further than the GX2's range, but I didn't need all of it to do the loop. The peak speeds of my range test on the GX2 were about 27 mph and peak speed on the VX4 between stop signs were around 23mph. (both on the range test course, not the lap of SF). Average speeds were within about 1mph of each other. -Paul
@Patriot3614 күн бұрын
@@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide Oh man! I hate when that happens! So sorry Paul. With youtube I've gotten in the habit of copying my, "so far written" text because I've done that so many times. In any case, thanks so much for your thoughts. I agree with your data, I think the GX2 would make the SF lap if you completed it at roughly the same speed as the VX4 SF lap. Like you stated, this is all verified by your actual range tests with both scooters. For similar Watt hour scooters, the ESG range test benefits the slower scooters, hinders the faster scooters which means that the faster scooters end up excelling in the range department when you slow them down. As an example, I've done a 71mi ride on the RS5 Max riding my typical 16-19mph range around the mostly flat Tempe AZ area with little stop and go. The great thing about the ESG range test is that it's worst case scenario, so I know I'm always going to get way more mileage when I ride it.

I mainly want to put the car in the trunk of my vehicles, then ride it home and back to pick up a vehicle. Few things im looking for: - around 44 inches folded plus or minus a few inches - 20+ mph - possibly dual suspension as i ride on a somewhat bumpy pavement road. - cost, under $800. - range and hill is not as much of a factor for my pupose. I basically rode the perimeter of the city. I live in the Outer-Mission, almost in Daly City, so I took San Jose Ave from here, then cut over to 3rd st for Chase center, then the ballpark, then Embarcadero to the Ferry Building. From there I didn't even plan to visit Transamerica Pyramid, but sort of ran into it on my way to Coit Tower, then the shortest route from there to Fisherman's Wharf, then Chrissy Field, which is always amazing, and then there's a steep, scenic climb from Chrissy field up to the bridge, and from there it was under the bridge and follow the coast for a bit, then Clement St. Then the Cliff House and Great Hwy, finally Lake Merced and back home. I thought it was going to be a drag, but it was super fun. Took forever, because I was filming. It would be a way nicer ride without the cameras and microphones! -Paul

Thanks so much for watching and for your insight about the other VMAX models. I haven't reviewed the other VMAX scooters, but I think those are earlier scooters. It's not uncommon for scooter companies to get their start with scooters manufactured by other companies. Typically when you see scooters under more than one brand, none of the scooter brands are the original manufacturer. So if Kugoo has similar scooters, they probably aren't the manufacturer, but also spec'ing out a scooter from a 3rd party manufacturer. That's how Apollo got their start, and that's why the Apollo scooters and the Zero scooters looked nearly identical. Even then, they were built to different specs, often with different batteries and different firmware. The scooters reviewed in this video are all original to VMAX. -Paul
