This is so cool!!! I did a similar deed for our daughter. In 2017 our granddaughter was diagnosed with a brain tumor, which damaged her optic nerves and is now blind. It has been a long road, since she was 5 months old at the time of her diagnoses, but has been doing well. Our daughter qualified for the Make A Wish foundation, and since she loves camping, but is very difficult to tent camp with a special needs child, they wished for camper. They found them one. A travel trailer, but they didn't have a vehicle capable of towing it. My wife and I decided to find them something to tow, so after looking around, we picked up a 2001 Chevy Suburban. It needed some work, but decided, since we picked it up for $1600. Redid the brakes, replaced the coolant hoses, both valve cover gaskets, and fixed the A/C then just gave it to them. Total amount was $2100 with the parts, and purchase of the vehicle, doing the work myself. Our daughter and her husband were excited, and love the Suburban.

That engine is so clean and in such nice shape, I think I'd just rebuild those heads and keep them. Somebody took really good care of that engine. You will never know what this will mean to this family, unless you are in a similar situation. I have a 24.5 year old van that I really, really love, and part of the reason I watch channels like Ray's is because I'm trying to keep it going. We got that van in '05, when it was five years old. Our child had cancer and my mother had cancer, and my husband and I were caregivers to both. My days were filled with doctor's appointments and chemo appointments for both. I wasn't working, and I knew I wasn't going to be working for a very long time. In the middle of it, our Ford Windstar ate a crankshaft. We had nothing to buy another car with, and no way to make payments. My aunt gave us some money, and we were hoping to find a car that we could trade in what we had and put that money with it to get another car, but we ran into a car seat complication. Because our daughter was so sick, she had outgrown the height limit on her rear facing car seat, but she was underweight and was under the weight limit to turn the car seat around. We absolutely could not find a car that the car seat would fit in the way it was going to have to go. We went to a friend with the problem, who had worked with both me and my husband on different jobs, but had gone back to working for his father at the local car dealership. He found a Chrysler Town and Country that it fit in, but it was above our budget. He let us have it at what the dealership had paid for it, no markup, and then he took out his personal checkbook and put new tires on it. Nineteen years later, we still have that van, and we still drive it. It has a parasitic draw in it somewhere, which I'm hoping I can find after I absorb enough of this information, because my mechanic couldn't find it and he is a very good mechanic. He has kept it going all these years. We have always fixed everything it needed, so it still runs like a champ when it is running. It still drives very well. I don't know if I will ever let it go, because it is a reminder of all that the Lord has done for us, and all we have overcome, as well as being a really nice van that still drives better than most on the road.
