During this video there was a lot of time spent on the home page layout. Over the years, I have built out numerous content blogs and in each case, one of the least visited pages in my analytics is the home page. For this reason, my most recent sites have a very basic home page (blog roll). Users will not start on your site going to that page and if you have your interlinking and menu built out correctly, visitors may never even see the home page. As you stated it is about EEAT, Topical Authority, and number of blog posts that truly dictate the order.

Hey Ricky, I was wondering something. So I’ve been writing in a blog for 3 years and 3 months. And I was averaging 500 views a month to my blog and my site is even ranked high on a few search results. I have about 1,200 blog posts published. And like I’m just wondering. Was it supposed to be a success by now? Because I’m over here and like I wouldn’t mind an extra thousand dollars from blog every month😂😂😂

I've heard you tell people to turn off comments on blogs (due to spammers), are you changing your tune on that now?

I have comments turned on, but I still get very few real comments and lots of spam. I'd really love to have more user-generated content on my sites, but most blog content doesn't seems to really evoke a lot of comments.

IMO you can have them ON, with manual accept, and avoid problem of spammers

Yes, that’s what I do. I don’t let the spam actually get published on the site. Also, create a big list of blacklisted words to help reduce the amount of spam that you have to moderate.

Actually, we didn't because Julia gathered the sites and data and then gave the challenge to me and Nathan. She's the one who revealed the results to us after we guessed. So... not a scam.

And...? Site design includes a lot more than just layout. People can customize fonts, colors, and images in ways that don't look great. You can also make a pretty amazing looking site using Acabado. So yeah, I'll give feedback on site design if there's room for improvement no matter whose theme someone is using.

​@@IncomeSchool well that seemed quite unnecessarily combative? My point is that the site looked quite similar to the layout of the out of the box Acabado home page settings. Hero image - six tiles - blog role and it seemed like you wanted more from that layout. Direct quote "more variety". I know those settings because I'm someone who paid the fees for project 24 and I'm a user of theme. If you think more variety is needed, maybe that could be something that's worked into an update. I quite liked the course content and I felt the theme was very slick and fast and nice looking even if there are a couple of kinks that need ironing out (which your users have raised on your forum for years). I'll take my money elsewhere after this interaction..

Hm, was a P24 lad as well, Used the them, but did not found IS comment combative. Your - A bit IMO, my 1st thought was also "And?". Why could they not give constructive feedback on a site, even the one using their theme? Acabado is not a shield protection from a "big, bad, Ricky Wolf" ;)

I’m sorry. I wasn’t being intentionally combative. I thought I raised a valid question and gave an appropriate response to your question. It appears at least one other person read my comment and didn’t interpret it harshly. I sincerely apologize that it came across combative. Again, that was not my intention. That said, I don’t pander to people for their money or approval so threatening to take your money elsewhere doesn’t really do anything for me. I’m working to overcome my compulsion to try to please everyone. If I’m not someone you can learn from or interact with, then I wish you the best and hope you find what you’re looking for. Again, not trying to be combative, just sharing my perspective.
