DS2 uses directional rolling as a key element to its combat, unlike every other souls game. Rolling to the weak side against enemies with large weapons, rolling same direction as incoming swipe attacks around an enemy and dodging towards and under an enemy aerial attacks. Each time in video you comment on not knowing why fight suddenly seemed easy occured when you instinctively got the directional rolls down for each bosses attack. The addition of directional roll dynamic is how DS1 vets have sometimes gone from ng+ easy mode giants to lol@thenewb dying to the DS2 tutorial areas. Just for future runs 😉

@khajiitimanus74322 жыл бұрын
@@nej24r Except for the fact that all weapons in DS2 have a Dex requirement of 3 or more. Smelter Hammer is 6 Dex and 70 Strength. The only 2 weapons in the game with a Dex requirement as low as 3 are the Hand Axe and Reinforced Club - both of which are pretty terrible Strength weapons. I don't like leveling Dex just as much as most others trained in the bonk, but a minimum of 6 is required for maximum bonkage. Granted, this could be bypassed with a Dexterity Ring, since that adds 5 Dexterity, but I'm not so sure it's worth the ring slot. The only 'weapon' that works fine with no Dexterity are catalysts and Vanquisher's Seal. However, with no intelligence or faith, catalysts are right out - so you just have Vanquisher's Seal if you don't want to use rings. edit: I was wrong. Forgot about shields, haha! The majority of medium shields and greatshields have no Dexterity requirement, including Orma's Greatshield and Reeve's Greatshield - in other words, the Imperious Knights got it right.

The first 2 things that came to mind were Vanquisher's Seal and the Dark Pyromancy Flame (not for casting spells, but for punching people for fire damage). I reckon the latter would've actually been really good for some of these fights. Also, at 1:03:23 that Possessed Armor has an attack where he loads an arrow, floats his bow like, 18 feet above him, then fires from there. So what happened there is intentional, you just missed the attack's telegraphs.

There is a video by Radai released a few weeks ago showcasing Fume knight's hitboxes (And they are suprisingly consistent, albeit a bit wacky). But watching that video helped me a lot recently with my sl1 no stat boosting gear run.

Oh wow, I went and watched that and his arms are hitboxes???? WTF??? That is so weird. Also now I can see why dodging right in his second phase is so much safer, because if you dodge left, even if you dodge the sword, you'll get hit by the hitboxes on his arms. That is so strange. Why would his arms have hitboxes? And that also explains why you can get hit when behind him during certain attacks. Also, the hitbox of his sword is a cylinder. That's why it's larger than the sword itself. Same applies to the smelter demon I suppose.

@@PressContinue If i am not wrong, cylinder hitboxes are the standard for all dark souls games (and probably all Fromsoft games), it's just that they are much bigger in ds2 and there are less of them (One big hitbox rather than multiple smaller hitboxes), here's a video of midir's hitboxes from ds3: kzbin.info/www/bejne/rnPCiWV3rJKSm5o. But yeah, the arm hitbox is weird. I think it was supposed to stop you from getting too close and getting away with touching his arms rather than his sword but those are way too big.

This game was a pain. Was different than the other darks souls but had a little charm thinking of playing it again.

43:50. I'm not from the Netherlands, but from Germany. And there actually IS a German version of this carnival song (Da steht ein Pferd auf'm Flur). Ha, didn't know this but it's quite funny! ^^ Really enjoying your runs btw. You suffer for us so we don't have to... thanks bro :)

There's a german version? I had no idea you guys even knew about carnaval in the first place
@TofuLP2 жыл бұрын
@@PressContinue Yeah, I'm from Mönchengladbach, which is not too far from Venlo. Carneval is kinda big there! But it's even bigger in Cologne. ^^

Impressive work my friend, btw for that Lost Sinner part, it's called skill my friend, you are really good! Keep it up the great work!

The reason the archer killed you "through the wall" in Brume Tower was actually because those archers can raise their bows above the barrier and shoot you from high up. It's still bs but it makes sense at least

Dks2 holds a special place in my soul. So much more fun at sl1 than dks1. I haven't done a sl1 in dks3. I started and got to Aldrich but never finished it. Nice video!

Lmao my man just quoted metallica lyrics for his intro this will be a good video.

DS2 is my most hated game in the series because of I frames being hidden behind the adaptability stat. I make a point to never look up guides when I'm playing through a souls game so I never learned that. Mostly because the game doesn't make that clear. I ended up beating the game with SL1 adaptability and it almost broke me. I can't fucking believe you are doing this with all of your stats on one. Absolute insanity.

Hats off to you for playing these games without looking stuff up, they tilt me way too much to play blind, especially DS2. Not knowing about ADP pissed me off so much after getting hit through rolls that I only came back to DS2 after Elden Ring lol. Now I love the game, but it really punishes you for not knowing meta knowledge behind game mechanics/level design.

So excited to watch this!! Absolutely love your content and seen every single video., always looking forward to the next one. You deserve a million subs and I hope you will finally get the attention your runs deserve. Even though I personally do not enjoy DS2 myself you make it fascinating. Thank you for going through that agony for our entertainment, haha! Mega respect for all you do! Edit: I thought it was impossible for me to like you even more and then you hit me with Dream Theater and references to other amazing bands, haha. You absolute legend
