EDIT: Just realised the only reason I was taking so much damage against Mateus was because she had reflect and we were dealing Thundara damage to ourselves lol I don't know how I missed that but would it really be a JamSac video if I didn't do something stupid? :)

Ahh hell yes another weekend another FF12 episode from the funny british man who simps Balthier. Seriously though i love the game and its fun to see a challenge like this and also doing all the bosses

That jelly who prefers women is a FFVI reference. There's a tentacle monster in FFVI called "Ultros" which is a bad localization of Orthros, the name of the second jelly. Yes, this Ultros is a pervert hence the jelly berserking when it sees men. I know, perverted tentacle creature. It's Japan.

Bubble is so huge, doubling your HP way before you would normally reach that point really helps you scurry and scuttle through the Necrohol without as much fear of dying as usual. From your Vossler Expose trick I've learned to exploit the hell out of my guest characters. 12 different gambits for attack? ❌ 12 different gambits to make them my junky monkey? ✅

Larsa always has access to Shades of Black all the times he’s in your party. Makes those segments a lot easier.

Honestly I'd say he's *even stronger* as a guest now because of things like that, even though he no longer has the infinite supply of potions he had in the original release.

Mateus is actually really crazy, the trapped woman is, if I recall correctly, some other goddess restrained. Mateus is the rest of the body. There's some really ridiculous lore tied to all of the Espers in the game. Watching all of the fights, there are so many XII enemies in XIV, not just in Stormblood(of which an entire raid is dedicated to XII, should you be so inclined to stick with it 😄)

You were curious about why Ice enemy is weak to Thunder....for whatever reason instead of the more traditional Fire vs Ice weakness, they went with Fire vs Water and then Ice vs Thunder. Weird how it's backwards from FFX in that respect (and then Wind vs Earth and Holy vs Dark are the other two pairs, as one might expect)

So a fun fact, I'm fairly certain the reason why Penelo was hitting higher than average against the two Mousses was because she was using the poles. The damage calculation for Poles is calculated against the enemies magic defense. So if an enemy has protect on constantly, or has high physical defense, a Monk is an excellent option because of that calculation. Due to her low strength though, she isn't hitting as hard as she could but hey, something is something.

Mateus is a water esper that happens to control ice. I never understood why pokemon separated the water and ice or rock and ground types. They're the same thing. Fun fact, Mateus is actually the crucifix and the mermaid is his living shield/ prisoner.

Famfrit is the water Esper though, and Ice and Water are separate elements in XII.

Just a note since I thought the same thing my first ever playthrough and encountering Mateus: Mateus is actually a male eidolon and the woman is actually just an ice priestess that he stole away from a shrine to use as a literal meat shield when he and the other eidolons challenged their makers. He is the "arms" that hold the spear and the form that she is affixed to as he engulfs her person.

Now that you reached the rift theres actually a spell there for basch only called "death" especifically in the Karydine Glacier, if i no mistaken was on a death end close to a river, and there wqs several traps tho :o

I'd recommend getting the status bolts for balthier if you're having trouble getting his status effects out since there free and are alright damage wise plus they don't use his mana

Jelly doesn't afraid of men, it's just the biggest simp ever, and prefer women. Jelly wanted to be friendly with women like maybe in some hentai i dunno, but we started attacking it because "no means no" and Larsa is just feminine enough, so Jelly doesn't mind ;) And when we switch to the men in our party Jelly doesn't run away, it gets angry and wants to beat our ass because "how dare you switch to these ugly men, ewww~" 😅
