Agreed, so many game players now hate dialogue, even when it's written well which is odd to me. Not to say I have anything against them, but personally I love how much effort went into the narrative of this game, flaws with it and all. I am a certified lore enjoyer and dialogue reader, and I guess that's just me. Good to know other people also like it though, because if we go back to getting SWSH (or like most other pokemon outside of gens 5 and 7 tbh) levels of mid writing it'll suck.
@Altair1243WAR Жыл бұрын
@@greyscaleadaven Well, dialogue is fine but a semi-long unskippable cutscene in tge middle of battle is kind of annoying. Even moreso when you consider the likelihood that JRose loses two or more times while attempting to find a strategy and is forced to sit through it again That said, somewhat unfortunately, the way he plays isn't very representative of the whole community so I can't in good-faith say it should be re-written to make it better for a minority. Even though I really do think it's not a spectacular place to put it on the whole (the silver lining is that at least they didn't go overboard)

@@greyscaleadaven Within the pokemon community you'll find there's a large number of people that don't like RPGs. So it's not really surpising that a ton of those people complain about RPG conventions when they appear in Pokemon.
@greyscaleadaven Жыл бұрын
@@TheWrathAbove You know what, that makes a lot of sense. Thanks for pointing that out, because as someone who enjoys both it now makes perfect sense why I feel like sometimes I'm at odds with the interests of other people in the community. Most people feel this way about RPGs: you play though it once, do everything, experience the narrative, and you're good. I like competitive in the vacuum of Pokemon Showdown from time to time (though I might get into it this generation on console), but I honestly grew out of challenge runs after doing like the 8th nuzlocke on my copies of black and white and B2W2 when I had a lot of free time. Now I can't even get through one, and I've tried a lot of times. Not to say that they're not my cup of tea, more like I enjoy watching other people do them for content instead of doing one myself. Point being, of course people trying to play the game in a different way are going to have different thoughts on repeating dialogue like that. Let alone a community mostly filled by people who enjoy challenge runs and competitive simulations more than the base game's campaign.

Just a tip for these games: In the school, if you take the classes there and do the events with the teachers there, you can get 50 dragon tera shards from the Art teacher (who also happens to be the Elite 4 member) Hassel, and 50 rock tera shards the former gym leader and also math teacher Ms. Tyme. they are kind of locked behind certain checkpoints in the game though as they're the last events for the respective teachers so I'm not sure when exactly you get access to the tera shards ingame. I forget the other events that give you these tera shards, but I do believe the raids give you some but nowhere near enough to feasibly change it unless you're really focused on doing one type of raid. On how Nemona takes the win when she battles you, it'd be really cool if that determined the ending of the game. Like, I have no idea how the endgame works in S/V, but wouldn't it be cool if back in Red/Blue if every rival battle determined how strong the final Champion battle was. Win every match an he really hits you with a big challenge by having better levels and team vs losing every time makes him overly confident and he is easier to fight, or something along those lines.

Like your rival starts with a Normal type, and depending on if you win or lose, determines what starter they get (whether it's weak or strong to yours), then, the outcome of the second battle determines one other pokemon on their team, or something. More details on the Yellow version thing: You start with a pikachu, because yellow version. if you win both the first battle with Gary, and the optional battle on the path towards the league, then his Eevee will evolve into Jolteon (resists pikachu's attacks). If you win the first battle, but lose the second (skipping the optional battle counts as a loss), then it will evolve into Flareon, neutral to pikachu's attacks. If you lose both battles, then it will evolve into Vaporeon, weak to pikachu's attacks.

Really enjoy these solo runs in the new games - hope you do more :) I think what made most of this game easy for your Fuecoco run compared to other games is because 1) you have access to things like bottle caps, mints, and vitamins early on, and 2) seems like none of the trainers in this game use healing items like Full Restores (also they got rid of that kind of broken friendship mechanic that helped out in the Bidoof run, lol). But I guess the extremely difficult final battle made up for how easy the Elite Four was, lol. I just finished playing through Scarlet and I actually found some of the later battles challenging, probably because I didn't over level my pokemon and was just using pokemon I like rather than ones that are good. I still don't get why there is no level scaling in this game. Would make perfect sense to introduce it to the Pokémon franchise and make this game so much better
@dansamolewicz3462 Жыл бұрын
That would mean Game Freak needing to program and balance test, and programming is hard... 🥱

Most people hate level scaling in open world games. The idea is to feel like you're growing stronger over time.
@ZorotheGallade Жыл бұрын
Eh, it's a pick your poison matter, but this means if you have a good enough team to tackle higher level events you can just go ahead and stomp them.
@DisplayThisOkay Жыл бұрын
Level scaling can't work in a game like pokemon beacuse 90% the pokemon increase power quadratically. It would require a huge amount of balancing that a game of this scale couldn't handle. Or rather the devs couldn't handle it with gamkefreaks yearly release cycle.
@naikyou Жыл бұрын
@@Christian-rn1ur Which conflicts with the idea of "explore where you want" if most of the content you have access to is just going to be almost impossible and shoehorns you into a fairly linear playthrough anyway. May as well not make it open world if that's the hurdle to fail at.

@@cashnelson2306 It's more the concept of it, not the mechanics if that makes sense. Like we all know gyms aren't very hard, so the least they can do is make the tera pokemon unique and interesting in other ways. Each one has a narrative, in character, or conceptual reason why they tera the way they do, and that's the cool part. Though there are a few exceptions to this, like Grass/rock being perfect coverage, Ice-type altaria to beat ice type moves which are normally quad effective, or Iono.

wildest part of nemona winning in later part of the game being that you don't white out is exactly how Hau did it in his first battle that had alolan raichu in sun/moon where losing to him doesn't count as a whiteout. and that part was mid-late game as its just a lost there- we deff need more battles like that in pokemon where mid-late-game rival fights ain't white outs, but they say they win and you get to continue with the game, it just really expands the characters/game even though you lose out on exp-

Based on information from the competitive community, you maintain STAB on your original typing when you change type. Therefore, you don't need to hold it for more damage. In addition, I noticed that, in the final battle, you knocked out the first 4 with fire moves, which would maintain STAB. Therefore, to make the rest of the run easier, instead of relying on Hyper Voice, couldn't you use Tera Blast and go for fairy type? It covers all of your defensive needs against the final duo and provides you with much better offensive capability, making the battle a lot easier to get through.
