I’m glad to see that Civvie’s Sewer Census is being picked up by more and more people here on YT, some even far outside of the FPS genre) Also, kinda goes without saying, the vid is crazy good. Most people would just outright deem it impossible or not worth the effort to try and beat a game without having access to half of its movement options, but, yet again, Master Rando shows us how it’s done

From my recollection, quake 2 64 was actually quite difficult. shorter, but harder, at least in combat. I am not sure about platforming challenges

@@sirrandoOne plus is that there's no crouching in 64 at all, so that would be a whole roadblock removed

OG doom guy can't look up or down but he can still shoot up and down.

Yes, he has vertical aiming/shooting, just cannot look up/down.

Absolutely brilliant content mate. Played Quake, metal gear for years. Content for the games you play get stale from time to time, but every few years someone comes along and freshens it up. Recycle old ideas with bright commentary and video editing, or come up with completely fresh ideas that make you go back and play your favourite games.. My favourite game on the planet is Half-Life 1 I’d bravely say I’ve seen everything anybody could possibly do with that game. Would really like to see you tackle something from half life games! Many thanks. Glad your channel came into my feed!

considering when it came out in 1997 people were not used to mouse aiming that much, the navigation was pretty much like Quake 1, of course jumping was required. back in the days i used to beat this game keyboard only (coming from games like Doom, using the keyboard only approach was not out of the ordinary)

My first doom completion of Doom 1 was keyboard o ly too. Don't think I would like to go back to that control scheme now though lol

As someone who enjoys playing Quake 2 and is currently playing all campaigns on Nightmare difficulty (Right now, I am doing Ground Zero. Wish me luck), this was a very entertaining video. Nice job, dude! Do you plan on doing the other campaigns on Quake 2 or only the base game?

I may return for the extra campaigns. But I would probably investigate either base campaigns for quake 1 or maybe even Duke 3d first. Its just a familiarity thing, when I play a game on this channel, ots because o have a hankering to play it and it's a favourite from my childhood/teen years. My first introduction too quake 2 was deathmatch on PS1 of all places

@@sirrando Thanks. I'll certainly need it for Ground Zero and Call of the Machine. (I completed base Quake 2, the Reckoning and Quake 2 64 on nightmare difficulty) I also did all of Quake 1's campaign on nightmare as well. Thought it was a good challenge to take.

Oh and if you can help it. Try to save hyperblaster ammo for the shield. The weapon is kinda poop anyway. Its better to have less ammo sometimes. Oh and you can just shoot the guy instead of the iron maiden if you feel like it.
