Just went and did this too, something to note: The twinmetal ring is now in the game! It's placed right above the shrine of Devara between the festering banquet and the castle of storms - meaning that barring skips you can get it right after beating the Sodden Knight. Also it's a very strange feeling when the Mad Alchemist is actually one of the most difficult bosses in the run, to the point where I had to go beat the cyclops and jester first to get some more levels before I managed to beat him.

Can you beat Salt and Sanctuary with only potatoes? James the dev mentioned in a LobosJr video that he had originally intended to put in a potato-only challenge but didn't get round to it. I imagine it'd be super tough cos you'd need to farm them all, and you only start with 14 max from the chef. Sounds almost impossible
@TheBacklogs4 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately, with the power of the debug menu or recent mods, it's *entirely possible* to attempt this challenge. I didn't realize James himself had wanted someone to attempt it...I guess we'll see what we can do. @TheBacklogs4 жыл бұрын
Honestly, the fisticuffs build was really fun (especially when I added the Twinmetal Ring). My favorite "normal" build is the build I use for almost every RPG: the parry paladin. Damage/healing buffs, constant hp Regen, heavy armor, a parry-focused shield and a spear and dagger for ripostes. Gets me through anything :)

"What's your favourite build?" There's two. That will be The Ultimate Edgelord XD Firstly, pick Tristin as your character nation. Secondly - Reapers. I love 'em. Saltreaver or Gravedigger will do nicely. And finaly, armor. Get the Grim set. And now you look like other fellow Edgelords from Order of the Betrayer XD Alco you can throw a gun in there, if needed. Lucent Musketoon for looks, or Mosaic Culverin for damage. Oh, i almost forgot. Weapons in SaS have special combos. Did you try light, light, heavy, heavy for Spears\Halberds? Or light, light+up, light+down for Reapers? That what i was able to find. And now for second build, that actually first. Meaning, i beat the game with it for the first time. Meet The Heavy :) The Tainted set, Bonecrusher for armored, or fragile enemy types (like skeletons). And the star of this build, also best weapon for shoving inside of some big fucking arse - Castaway's Greataxe. Listen to this kzbin.info/www/bejne/qpmXdK2sZs9mfJo and you'll understand XD

One thing I wish all video games did when it came to unarmed combat, was to somehow factor in what your character is wearing in their arm and leg slots when it came to damage. Because like, if you're punching and kicking things it'd only make sense to do more damage if wearing heavy plate gauntlets or boots, right? Iirc Skyrim has a perk like that in the heavy armor tree but to my knowledge that's the only game I can think of that has something like that as a feature.
@miss_baphomet2 жыл бұрын
dark souls has a hidden buff to unarmed damage if you wear the gauntlets of thorns
@joratoxdarkblade6826 Жыл бұрын
Well the mathematics sounds nice but there is two factors to consider for kinetic energy velocity and mass. Wearing heavy armor increase one while reducing the other while wearing light armor also increase one but less and reducing the other less aswell. Your mass go up but you lose speed. This is the reason guns work the way they do, muzzle velocity is far more important to those.

@themambawarrior22903 жыл бұрын
Back when I first started playing, I used the Wrapped Link a lot. Nowadays, however, I honestly feel like that ring is more of a hinderance than a help. Sure, it may make things faster, but the problem is that it also decreases your roll's distance. This is mostly an issue for those times where the distance is actually low enough that you need to roll twice to get through a boss, when one normal roll could have cut it easily.

But (and I'm fairly sure this was probably suggested somewhere on your Discord) I noticed that you said pretty damn often, that as an adult you don't have much time at your disposal (don't we all? :x) So I was wondering that whenever you're going to a heavy grind or have to do something tedious without much challenge aside from a massive timesink, why not then use proper gear and weapons after showing, that it can indeed be done within the confines of the challenge run? Because personally, I don't think sinking in extra time really contributes to a challenge, only to the deterioation of ones sanity ^^' Either way, great content, keep it up and kiss Mrs. Lemon ^^
