So I was bored in class and decided to take a shot calculating weather or not it was physically possible to bite your own finger off. So I researched the psi of a human jaw and measured the diameter of my index finger. I then calculated the estimated psi for the moment of collapse for a cylinder of the same thickness as the index finger. I also researched the psi of failure for a carrot of the same size as the finger. If my calculations were correct, then theoretically, no you can’t physically bite your own finger off. The psi of failure for your finger is about 90 psi greater than the max psi of a human jaw and even more so than a carrot of the same size.

Fingers aren't as weak as carrots, jaws are just extremely strong, and you can, with lots of strength almost bite it off or sustain very serious damage. You can, however, bite off clean your tongue which is fun to think about.

jaw muscles are definitely strong enough, way stronger than what its needed to break some of the smallest bones of human body, issue are the teeth, they could probably fracture, ours' arent made to chew bones like a tiger, but with some protection u could bite fingers without any problem
