Is‘nt a watch also a tech subscription? I mesn most people replace theirs after some years for the new one. So just divide the buying price by the months you owned it and you got your „apple watch subscription price“. I paid 680€ for my last one and had it for 4 years. That would be a monthly price of about 14€

The whoop requires a subscription so that’s an immediate no from me.

To be fair, an Apple Watch also somewhat costs a set amount of money per year. Your battery will start to die slowly and you’ll want to upgrade to a newer version eventually. But whoops is way overpriced for what it is.

You could just use something like a polar verity sense or other small HR monitor that hangs on the arm and connect it to the watch for activities like jiujitsu. That will eliminate the need for an expensive subscription if you are only using the whoop for this.

Yeah if you sign up for three years or something like that it’s 16bucks a month. Most people are updating their Apple Watch every three to four years. Which you could boil down to a monthly cost and they’d be pretty comparable. BUT with whoop you can get the service for free.

Apple Watch with bevel is great for me, I have constant heart tracking, enabling the afib detection feature increased considerably the amount of measurements for heart rate and hrv which makes bevel reports even better and more reliable. I've gone back and forth with these devices so much.. Apple watch in the gym with the Hevy app is what keeps me using AW. It's just so nice to see my routine on my wrist and make changes on the fly if needed. Whoop has been very slow to update it's strength training. If they just let you start a weightlifting workout and add your strength trainer routine while working out so you can see your routine and make changes while working out without having to start stop sets it would be great. BUT if Garmin ever fixes their garbage strength training I'd probably ditch apple and whoop.

Now that I think about my friend is not in the beta and he gets sleep disturbances. Well if you are buying hardware more than once it’s also a subscription - a $800 Apple Watch every 4 years is $200 a year or 16.66 a month which is the same for a whoop membership when purchasing a 3yr membership. We often thing about subscriptions as only this monthly thing but we upgrade our hardware all the time and that has a monthly cost too.

@@BrandonTalbot its not about the costs.
