These are set plays with different variations that unfold in a tightly choreographed fashion. Doncic knows beforehand where the roll-man and the shooters are positioned or the positions they are moving towards. They have run this hundreds of times in training. In this sense he has distinctive advantage over us the viewers.

A lot of the time it’s easier in first person because you can see where the defender that’s guarding you hands are and how close they are to you

We get a helicopter view of the play, and 5 seconds to think. Luka does it on the floor in real-time. I'm not sure everyone understands how uniquely talented Luka is.

I made every correct play. But is definitely easier from this point of view and u can watch the entire court comfortably from the couch. Its way harder to do the right olay while dribbling, being defended oe double team and avoid being tunnel visioned

Very true. There are certainly options. However, what is put in film can be proven which is why I formatted it this way in the first place with the explanations after each. It’s less about the actual plays and more about the actual factors that led Luka to make his choice. That’s the important part.

I can make the reads, but that's because I've watched Lula so much and I have the added bonus of being able to pause and watch from an elevated bird's eye view. Luka is doing this in real time on the court at NBA speed.

Have Been telling people that “Pace” is more important than speed for a long time! You don’t need to separate from defender you just have to make the defense feel like you did so they rotate!!

Even when the action replay is paused it is hard to make the right decision. And he's capable of doing just that, in the blink of an eye, during game. In today fast paced game, having basketball IQ means more than size advantage or atleticism. And Luka is a perfect example.

It really depends on Baynes reation. If he fully commits to Luka, there is an easy lob to Dwight Powell. Basically Baynes can only lose in this situation.

I still think that stopping at the elbow for a split second, then letting powell cut, which should clear the lane to give smith a wide open layup against correctly played defense, is the best play in this situation.
