If you write the lyrics, you own that. Period. The voice from AI is not much different than any VST that we have been using for decades. If the industry has a probelm with that, then they can't allow any VST. Many of which are created with older AI of various forms. AI is not new. It's only new to some who have recently taken notice.

Yup. The law right now is if you input your own art be it lyrics, music, painting etc then whatever the AI spits out based on your own art is yours. You own it and can use it commercially. If you just use the default stuff then that stays with the AI Generator since you used all parts of it to generate something rather than using your own art. Basically the AI would not have generated the distinct voice/music without my input (if using own art). I use Suno AI and write my own lyrics and choose the genre and generate and tweak things until I get something that I feel represents what I was going for.

Music is Music, regardless who created it. There is good music, and there is bad music. But taste always depends on the individual listening to music. What might be terrible for you, might be a masterpiece for someone else. Is it important if it was made by a human or AI? I dont think so. You either like it, or you dont. However, even AI generated music needs a human input. Joseph Beuys once said that every man is an artist. Thats right. So AI and AI generated art is just an expression of human creativity. AI is a rather new tool. But synthesizer been a new tool in the 1960s too. And a lot of musicians refused to ever use them.

I write my own lyrics and restructured some of my poetry into songs and started using udio to make music. I have FL, but life keeps finding ways to keep me from sinking the time required to master the program. Things like undio have been awesome in hearing my lyrics put to music that would take me months or longer to make on my own. I've even done tracks in genres that I don't normally work in. I don't think AI will kill the music industry, I think it'll become a subgenre of music as a whole. In my opinion it's no different than vocaloid, holograms or what the Beatles did with ai and Lennon's voice.

My stance on AI generated works is if you use it responsibly to enhance your original creative works, speed up work flows like editing and publishing, or using it in a transformative way. Go for it. But you need to ask yourself at what point does it become more of a crutch than a tool. One example I've used it to help my work. Cloning my voice to replace sections of videos or audio that is much easier to write than re-record. I also utilized Chat GPT to give me inspiration for scripts and image prompts to help storyboard short films I am working on. Those are examples that really make me wish I had something like this 5 years ago because of how much time and confusion I'd get from my own internal thought process.

I did a video on just releasing stuff because it seemed pretty clear that any legislation is pretty vague and leaves everything pretty open ended. It specifically mentions that you can't just own prompts (I don't agree with the legislation in this regard but whatever), but it also says if it has zero human involvement then it isn't copy writable. So I start with ChatGPT lyrics and do a lot of work to modify from what I get. I also do a lot of manual work post ai generation as far as the music. So there's also all that human interaction.

Ai lyrics are sort of like outsourcing your songwriting process to your best bud before both of you get stoned and go to denny's for munchies. AAs you drink coffee, stay all night, talking about how much you love or hate, or are frustrated by, and then you both rapidly write ideas down on napkins until the sun rises! It's an authentic songwriting experience. But nobody publishes that crap as is, and nobody should

Times are changing this is a new way to compose music. It does take time and patience to create something really good on suno, seems to me with what I been doing is the better you write, the better the outcome of the song in general. I am an artist I am creating! Just because i don’t do it the way it’s been done for years. so what , that means nothing. With suno i can finally create what is in my head that I couldn’t do before because it takes way too much time to figure all the different settings, mixing, vocals etc. I do consider myself an artist whether I paint with 5 colors or 1000 I am creating and it can’t be denied!

The problem I have with these distribution places is they shouldn't be gatekeeping, if people want to buy or listen to this music then why is it up to a distribution company to stop them, they aren't a production company. Most chart music now is over produced and soulless because of big corporations, so what's the difference

Its crazy though in your video you show Suno V2. It is now as of my comment in V3.5 stage where you can now actually upload 6-60 second sample of your own voice or some sounds and make lyrics with your own voice or beats with your own instruments (or even not instruments and just beat some bottles around). That is technically original sound if you want to go about it that way? How do you measure that up? Also what about people who use Suno who write all of the Lyrics themselves? It is for sure going to become more and more challenging as time goes on with each streaming service to properly distinguish it if they want to care about it so much. In my opinion, hey if it sounds good and has nice lyrics then whatever. Even though this vide is 3 years old, compare something like Suno V2 to Suno V3 now and it gets crazy. Same with GPT3.5 Turbo and GPT4o Edit: I do make music with AI, recently started posting to KZbin as a hobby just cuz I like how it sounds and I decided to add some visualizers to it and some other things and turns out people are liking what I make, so I am not sure. A lot of people like it knowing its AI, so I am not sure I can say anything about it, music is music

Such a grey area, I'm no musician, but I was just interested in testing out technology as AI-generated music could be used to make soundtracks for video production work (course, presentations, i.e. your own branded music). Tunecore rejected a track as an "internal decision" and didn't give me a reason, but when I requested to find out, they said they do not distribute AI generated content but do support the use of AI technology that enhances human creation. So, the internal team could be deciding what gets distributed? It's important to consider how humans learn and generate original ideas. Our creativity is deeply rooted in the information we acquire, the experiences we have, and the influences we absorb. Musicians, for instance, often draw inspiration from a wide array of sources, including other artists, genres, and cultural movements. This process of learning and reinterpreting existing elements to create something new is fundamental to human creativity. Similarly, AI analyses vast datasets to identify patterns and generate unique outputs. Just as a musician might blend different influences to produce an original composition, AI synthesises the data it has been trained on to create novel and innovative art. In essence, AI's creative process mirrors our own, leveraging learned information to inspire and develop new ideas. This parallel underscores the legitimacy of AI-generated art and highlights its potential to enrich our creative landscape. Do we know of any specific distributors that are ok with the distribution of full AI generated content? Thanks

I'm just messing with creating songs using AI and have created a number of 'jingles' for my business clients, which they love and it's really taking off for me. I add video to the songs and they use it on their respective websites and Social Media. The thing about uploading to DistroKid etc. is that the song isn't sung by anybody and the music isn't played by anybody during its creation so, surely it's a risky business putting music tracks out there when, if asked, you simply couldn't perform any of them live.

At the end of the day, this is ripe for a radio station to start using ai music for their content. There are 100s of country radio stations. They are just playlists of songs with ads around them. Some have people talking between songs, some are just music and ads. If Distrokid, Tunecore, CDBaby, and the major streaming platforms say they don't want music being created by an ever larger pool of people, we'll just make a service that allows ai music creators to share their own content. It's basically going to be a competing radio channel if they don't integrate it. The best songs get funneled up regardless. This idea of banning ai music in general is the equivalent of banning jazz music in the 1920's. Where there is demand, there will be an opportunity for disruption. It's only going to get better as we go from here. So what if there is no copyright on a song? If you provide the audio file for the radio station to stream and they can make money from ads, they will have an incentive to pay for that music people want to listen to. If they aren't willing to pay for that music, the people generating the musical content can just take it somewhere else that will pay for it. Even the idea of generating songs and publishing them royalty free is sketchy because they usually pay for people to share their content. If the ai generating platforms don't pay, less people will share their content. Maybe they are good with that? But, I'd argue spreading the wealth will make everyone more engaged and ultimately mean a more successful/valuable music generation platform.

Distributors that are blocking aiProducers should also block or eliminate all music that has been distributed for 15 years. The problem is not the AI, they have problems it is because they have interests in companies that manufacture and sell sampler, VST, Synth, DAW, etc. products. And they see aiProducers as a risk because they will sell less and less of those super expensive products that in the end don't make much of a difference.

As long as you are using the paid version of the AI app to create your music, you have the rights to release it commercially. Be it Aiva, Suno, or Udio. I use Meta to generate my lyrics, Suno to generate the music, Audimee to revoice the songs, Bandlab to master and then Distrokid for distribution. Meta- Free Suno - Paid $10/month Audimee - Paid $12/month Bandlab - Free Distrokid - Paid $23/year

Who cares if it's AI generated? People being against it are ridiculous not gonna lie. It is about the listeners and the audience. They are all that matters. If they like the songs, they should be available everywhere. Being against it as a "real" artist (which an ai artist is, he just uses technology to their advantage, which also has a lot of drawbacks) just says about you that you are envious and scared of good competition... Pathetic

The problem comes in the form of copyright. If you create music 100% through 100% generation and your song gets popular, someone can use the same song and earn money off of it because AI music is not copyrightable. You would have to prove the music was made by you and written by you. That's the catch. AI music can't be copyrighted, the lyrics can though if you write your own.
@MurphyArtPrints
@MurphyArtPrints 3 ай бұрын
That rule was made for art. Not music. But in either case, AI has been around for a very long time. Many VST's are created using AI in some form or another. Even our synth keyboards have it build in with MIDI. So that is opening a big can of worms on where the line is drawn. Especially with sounds we didn't create ourselves that allow a computer to synthesize through a machine. And with art, the same goes with many paint brushes that have been in photoshop for years. And then there are filters over the past few decades. Is perline noise AI now? Because that's been part of music and art for even longer.

@@MurphyArtPrints The US GOVERNMENT has stated the exact opposite. Yes. I think everyone knows the tech has been around for a while but the government still has denied it. The key is 100% generation as I mentioned in my post. Have you tried to copyright AI music recently? They will most surely ask if your work was made with AI and your involvement in the creative process. Creating a prompt for music isn't copyrightable just like human ideas can't be copyrighted. Only human expression of creativity. They most surely will deny copyright if you can't prove you provided significant human creative merit as copyright protects human authorship, not A.I. I don't know if you're from another country but AI music is not protected by the U.S. Copyright Laws (for now) and anyone who thinks otherwise is up for a wake up call.

The bottom-line is always money. Whoever 'runs money' will dictate how this plays out. If music remains profitable for them they won't give a rat's ass about AI. The very minute that AI threatens their bottom-line we will see decisions about AI. At they moment they are probably biding their time, watching to see what happens. This could take a decade. What if AI is just another MS Word. Word made it possible for anyone to at least appear a more polished and professional person communicating with the written word. I remember when getting a printer magically turned your kitchen in to an office LOL. The first mobile phones and laptops were used by 80s yuppies in suits who all looked like business people. This tech took years to become affordable. Ask yourself why. The 'bottom-line people'. As soon as sales started to dip, right? Everything goes back to the bottom-line.

The way you tell it's ai generated based on how bad the lyrics are. I dunno. Don't trust any ai write lyrics for you dude. These are all terrible. And the prompting style you're using is more than lazy. You're better off in custom mode, where you can control the style, even enter in chord progression. You want to use the 3.5 model, but the voices are still a little tinny, and the whole thing's gonna need proper mastering. There's only so much any performance can do to fix terrible, contrived, cliche lyrics... unless that's what you like. The problem in your outlook, is that you're forgetting the second law of creative AI: The AI is not an author, it's a tool. If you try to use it as an author, you will fail at it... it will be bad. And you will know it's bad... unless you have no taste. I do like the way musicians think through this problem though, even when they disagree with me. The thing is, with tools like stable audio, and new sound to music tools by udio, suno, and the new suite from google that's coming out, the difference between ai and "human" is indistinguishable. If you think it's possible, even now, to generate a workable album in ten minutes... you're welcome to to try. My last one took me four months to write and produce. The simple fact of creative accessibility isn't the problem. The problem is high volumes of low quality art in the marketplace, which hurts everyone. Good luck.
