Fun fact I've just discovered by accident: if you have a fully-upgraded Force Push, and you go into the ice caves, and you're quick enough on the draw that the bounty hunter hasn't entered their combat stance yet, you can push them off the edge of the map. I would've thought this was prevented by the ray shield but it very much is not.

Cere doesn't direct that "it could've been avoided" comment to Cal, she's actually speaking to Greez. He was in debt to the Haxion Brood, and they were tracking him. So it's pretty much his fault we get caught up in that, and it could have been avoided.

I have to be honest, I feel like they chose a weird middle way by giving you technically unwinnable fights against the bounty hunters. With how detached the whole prison break section is from the general story (like, the whole thing seems to be there just so Respawn could bolster the playtime a little) they could just as well just made it completely optional and make the fights winnable. On the other hand, if they insisted you fighting it, I feel like it would have been easier to just have a quick cutscene (for instance in the imperial facility) where Cal gets taken out in an ambush or alternatively make the fight winnable, but when you move in for the finisher a short animation plays where you get shocked. I don't think unwinnable fights as a plot device are always bad but in this case there's no point and it feels kind of clunky. I mean, a good unwinnable fight serves to build up your opponent as someone way more powerful than you currently are, ideally to set up a later encounter where you are gonna kick their ass, thus illustrating your growth and gain in power. But we are not talking about special enemies with relevance for the plot here but instead some random-ass bounty hunters and the only reason you can't beat them is because the game wants to do some kind of transition to you being in that prison. Rather than just forcing you to lose a fight that is not even that difficult, I'd much rather just see Cal get taken out using some unfair means.

That game generally feels rushed and unpolished. I'm pretty sure this prison section was supposed to be a part of some bigger story arc that ultimately got cut because there was no time. But devs were like: what do we do with this arena thing we made? Well, let's keep that in cuz it's cool. Plus the game isn't long anyway so we gotta pad the run time.

Greez and Cere will occasionally talk about his gambling addiction and how he owes money to the Haxion Brood, who run the arena and supply the bounty hunters. If you heard this dialogue on any of your trips through hyperspace, you know what's going on: Greez's debts finally caught up with him, and the Brood takes Cal as collateral. Even if he pays, it's unlikely they'll let Cal go. A Jedi is worth its weight in credits to the Brood as a bargaining chip to the Empire, an entertainment tool for the arena, and a show of how tough the Brood is to its enemies. Cal is there because Greez messed up. After that, his tone towards Cal completely changed in-game; where he was once Curt and brushes off Cal most times, he now openly expresses guilt and warms up to the Padawan. A nice bit of character development. So really, the arena and sequence make sense, but only if you pay attention at the right times to the convos in the cockpit.

There's another way into the Ice Caves. If you go to the Withered Monument, you can go all the way back to the Windswept Ruins. There's a way into the ice caves through there. It's the path I've taken the last 3 times I've skipped the prison sequence. Also, with that last bounty hunter, you can get close enough to pull those crates to you without setting off the trap. Use those to push the bounty hunter away. Then, walk close enough to set it off, and use force pull to dump them off the ledge. The second part of "Can you beat Fallen Order without a lightsaber" details this quite nicely.

Ok, but how is this path any good? You take a massive detour that takes way longer than paths I showed and then you end up in the Ice Caves on the other side of the Bounty Droid. And what then? You still have to avoid his bubble shield and then go past the Commando. Going from the direction I showed is both faster and easier because avoiding droid's shield is harder from the opposite side. Actually I didn't even manage to do it when I tried because the shield leaves no room around the edges of the cliff.

Incase your wondering, you can also make the Trilla final bossfight super easier. You will need to: Do not fully go inside the interoggation room or else the door will close behind you. Go until the wider part of the platform stretches out. Do not go any further than that. Next force slow her. This will trigger her to come towards you. Next step outside the room. She won’t be able to go outside the room, so just attack her. Do not go far from the entrance or the door will shut. When her health is low, and your sure you can take her without dying, fully go in the room and let the door close behind you or else when you beat her the game will glitch and you won’t properly win. Just dodge her ground-slamming attack.

You do know there's an even easier way: just go back down the zipline before the bounty hunter, run forward a bit, go back up and the shields trapping you in don't spawn letting you just run away
