In this video, Danny and I answer your questions from Supra Saga part 3:
Questions featured in this video:
"What oil did you use?"
"What kind of Chickens are those?"
Rick West "How Hot would an oven have to be to accomplish the same task?"
Christopher Baker: "Do you do heads for the older Mercedes diesel engines?"
Kurt Zimmerman: "Can he straighten a crankshaft?"
The video of "Lethal weapon" that we talk about when answering this question: • 1200+HP AWD Ladybug Lo...
Responding to a comment: "All heads are bent"
"Are you going to have to cut the seats and guides again?"
ajs222222: "Can you do this with cast iron heads?"
John Klaus: "If it didn't take, could you still do an oven straightening?"
Seth Hollis: "Could using an AC tig welder be substituted for a torch?"
Steven Bauer "What is the cost difference between doing the oven, and doing the 'less invasive' method?" and "is doing an align hone for the cam journals an acceptable alternative to straightening the head in terms of cost and reliability?"

Straightening a crankshaft is a pretty brutal process. If you want to see a customer faint, this will usually do it. lol. Stick it in a press, bend it straight, then bend it a bit more and beat the crap out of the journal shoulder with a blunt chisel to reduce spring back, check again, do it a few more times until it stays straight, then grind the crank. I like this guy. He knows his stuff.

This dude knows car stuff down to the metallurgical process. What he was talking about was when they forge metal what it does is opens up the molecule so they can hammer the carbon together so that when it cools its literally bonded together giving it that strength. Im just now getting into cars. I went into carbide. If I was 20 again I would have def went into auto mechanics. Its so fun now. Would have been a great career.
