Oh, this is a RELIEF. I gave up on uploading because between working FT at a very draining job and trying to grow my small creative business, I literally never had time to edit KZbin videos in the way that I felt I had to in order for anyone to watch. I recently stopped editing my podcast (except for cutting out anything super obnoxious like a cough or something 🤣) and it's been such a relief. I haven't "taken off" yet but I'm able to create more content that feels more authentic to me. I'm going to start making videos in the same way. I want to have FUN again.

I’ve left all SoMe platforms except KZbin and LinkedIn (although I wish I could quit LinkedIn, but from an academic perspective it’s almost impossible). I still have a soft spot for youtube because of the freedom you have to choose the content you like. And I love the personal connection you can make with your audience on KZbin. Your style is so authentic and valuable to us. Thanks ❤

Please keep up working here, do this more as a creative container, and less as all those marketing and difficult editing. ❤ I’ve just discovered you and loved your content. 😊 And your video was suggested for me! I didn’t knew you previously! On a super personal video you did! So it is working, just keep showing up the way is best for you, it’s working! 🎉

I just found your channel earlier this afternoon and I’m just so grateful for you and for what you do and how you’re being honest with yourself! Thank you for being a breath of fresh air ❤️ I could not care less about when my favourite KZbinrs post their videos, but I care if they’re honest with themselves. So thank you for showing me that it is still possible to do KZbin this way ✨

I've had a few KZbin channels, the ones where I have to show my face have been more exhausting, hate mail is tough on the mind - I felt high when getting compliments, likes, and views but then sad, and angry when I got hate, dislikes or few subs/views, I got fed up editing the hell out of the videos, too stressful for me. You've made me realize by watching another video that I am one of those Highly Sensitive People, watching TikTok wears me out very quickly. KZbin is addictive, and this is why we come back, I've Quit many times and then come back, I've quit again and put 3 channels on hold, I stopped enjoying KZbin, it's not exciting anymore or fun, as you mentioned, you see others doing better than yourself, the problem I have is that I can't squeeze myself into a Niche, I am like yourself an introvert and when I do go out to the supermarket and speak to others I feel happy but drained and have to recover, Im not good at talking on camera and feel so self-conscious, Im better writing, the thing is I feel I have nothing to offer, Im not an expert in anything and this is what you are told to do, become the person that ppl will come to, an expert.

Hey Louise, I'm 6 weeks in my own journey with a creative business and trying to promote it on social media (currently instagram only) and discovered you two weeks ago when I already felt a bit tired from instagram after such a short time. It really gave me hope finding you, and to know there are people doing their creative business their own calm way and that this might also work. I now have the plan to also try this in my pace and continue as long as I'm having fun with it. When it doesnt work out it's not for me and if it does - great! It probably needs time and patience and not over interpreting stats. So the advice I got from you I kind of want to mirror back. Please keep on doing youtube your way (and of course only as long as you enjoy it). Your videos are so lovely to watch, the calmness yet so inspirational. I'd wish there would be way more content like this but glad I now found you. Anne

In a similar vein to this, I've been thinking lately about how I miss old webcomics that you just checked in on to see if they had been updated; same with artists websites and older galleries (Elfwood, anyone?) and forums. And mailing lists, where you had actual deep interactions with people. I guess what I'm saying is I miss when art was allowed (and expected) to take time and while I do get why people hustle, it does make me sad. Ramble aside, I'm looking forward to seeing what you'll make on your own terms! I've always enjoyed your calm and cosy videos and I enjoy the way you talk about things =)

It's so nice to see you reject the pressure you've felt to emulate other KZbinrs, because what's always been best about your videos (and blogs and podcasts) has been the footage where you are simply yourself. I realised while watching to this video. My favourite people ever on the interent. upload VERY irregularly... Sometimes I miss them but I don´t expect them to upload. The only type of content online that I do expect and it creates this sense of "missing something" is the type of content that is aiming towards appeal to the entertainment. Rather than art.... (I am speaking of a comedy podcast I follow weekly)... They do fill my life with enjoyement but not create value as much as others.

You're a human being not a machine. But generally I would love to watch any videos from you at any time. BTW, just thought that KZbin thinks of viewers as badly as about creators. As if we are non human machines. It’s like you were voicing all of the concerns I’ve had as well in the last months. Somewhere there has been a shift from it being “fun and new” to comparing myself to others and “having to” upload at a certain frequency because of the fear of missing out on the right number of views that will help me grow my channel. It has turned from a new passion into just another task in my art business, and a rather large one. I’m at a point where I don’t rely on the extra income from my channel, and after watching your video I’m certain I want to keep it that way. I will try to get some of the initial spark back by working on video’s as long as I want. ❤ although I also have been listening to your podcast, It’s wonderful to see you again. 🥰

I follow youtubers that have a schedule and youtubers that don't. However, I do remember on certain days "hey, X is posting a new video today, let's check" and I feel a bit of anticipation, like when you have a treat/cheat day and you can't wait for it, and I have to admit that I feel a tiny bit disappointed when I don't get my treat video 😅. But that is on me. I haven't signed any contracts with said youtubers, there's no deadline set in stone. Also, at the end of the day, regardless of that posting schedule, I will still watch that video when it's convenient for me. As a youtuber, I try to have a schedule because it's convenient for me, I can organize myself better, but if I don't have anything to say in certain weeks, I skip it. Better to make quality videos than to respect a schedule because an algorithm, supposedly, says so.
@LouiseStigell
@LouiseStigell 5 ай бұрын
So true, I totally agree. I'll probably end up posting weekly just like before, simply because I like that rhythm. The only difference will be that the video might come up on different days of the week. 😊 Just knowing that there's no pressure makes a huge difference.

KZbin stats are also not presented as neutral numbers. All numbers are constantly compared to what you're usually achieving and you get presented where viewers lost attention to the video, vice versa. They seem to be designed to manipulate you creating not what you want, but what the platform wants you to create for people to see. So much unnessecary pressure, stress and anxiety created by that... Yet what are the alternatives if you want to share videos with the world.
