I've studied various musical genres in an academic way, from classical to jazz to oriental. Yet, whenever I encounter the masterpieces of Egyptian music, I find myself pausing to re-evaluate all that I have learned.

According to the Israeli story, information accumulated from people who met Jack Bitton, as well as suspicions that arose during a routine investigation of him, led to the conclusion that Bitton was an Egyptian spy. He was arrested in Tel Aviv by Israeli intelligence in the middle of the night, he was convinced to act as a double agent. The code name given to him was "Peg". Israeli intelligence allowed him to pass on reliable, though not critical, information to his Egyptian operatives in order to maintain his value in their eyes

So happy you've reacted to Ammar ElSherei's work. Raafat ElHagan was an Egyptian spy who assumed a Jewish identity and emigrated to Israel to spy for Egypt. That's why music is a mix of thrilling parts for the danger and soulful part for the mental and emotional struggle. Brass instruments add military feel to represent his mission.

Surprisingly the composer of Rafaat Alhagggan , Ammar Elshieriy is a blind person, yet he composed most of the modern Egyptian famous melodies. He also was a very famous pianist. He died after fully supporting the Egyptian revolution in 2011, all his efforts caused him to die of a heart attack. May Allah rest his soul.
