@@verttikoo2052 Asking for fair trade is bad? We run a $200B deficit with Canada. Meaning $200B more goes into your pockets than ours. Trump just wants it to be more even. That and helping stop the shipping of a deadly drug into the US. Or is that asking too much from an ally?

4:54 @GUNNER67akaKelt if you account for business services, Canada buys from the US, the trade deficit is 40 billion. That's small potatoes when you consider the 850 billion trade total. @@Mr.Kaplen I’m going to be honest, I want to confirm that this is happening before pointing any fingers. But if Canada has been housing large amounts of China products in its country and helping China to avoid paying the tariffs that have been in place, then Canada is responsible for helping the Chinese government to hurt the American economy.. This would be a huge problem and I would understand the reason for the tariffs being imposed. I would even say that we have been stabbed in the back by our northern neighbors and the idea that the Canadian people are not going to be willing to call out their leaders for allowing this to happen is very wrong and they have been an enemy, so I have ZERO sympathy for what will happen. But I don’t want to make any assumptions without any confirmation that they are indeed doing this.

@@ThisIsMyKZbinName1 Companies using a poorly worded loophole designed for citizen's and not expressly disallowed for use by companies is solely the fault of the US. Not canada for offering warehhouse space to a company to use in a legal fashion. Those same companies (Temu and Shein) could just as easily warehouse their goods in any other allied countries to split them up into smaller parcels to LEGALLY utilize this loophole, it would just cost them more in shipping to do so. By your terrible logic, every country that allows the US to send mail to US bases within them should be hit with 25% tarrifs because we don't pay taxes to those countries for importing goods into their territories either. Edited to correct a spelling mistake.

@@badooy85 this is not MY logic and I made it clear that this isn’t something that should be taken as fact and needs to be confirmed by people who actually understand how the system works. I am not that person. I only shared my opinion on if it was a fact. I didn’t create this video or accused anyone of deceiving a country. Only said that it would be wrong for Canada to be hurting the American economy and putting the blame on America for recognizing it was happening. @@badooy85 Not to mention the fact that those companies have warehouses in the USA. If it were America finding loopholes to make money off of Canada, you would be quick to say that we are responsible for destroying your economy. Trump is excellent at business and economic analysis. No one can deny that when you look at his numbers. All I’m saying is he may know more about this and acting accordingly in defending the American economy. I don’t understand why he is doing this and I can honestly say that everything I have been criticizing him for, I later learned the reason behind it and he is not this evil person most people think he is.
@badooy85
@badooy85 17 сағат бұрын
@@ThisIsMyKZbinName1 After having re-read your reply, I can see how maybe you intended it to be a hypothetical based, but that is ONLY clear with your response, not your original post. That said, the only thing that can even be considered to be hypothetical here is whether or not Canada is knowingly allowing Temu and Shein to purchase warehouses space within their country. At that point, it doesn't matter if that particular scenario is true or not, as your stated logic is that doing so would be, and I quote: "I would even say that we have been stabbed in the back by our northern neighbors".. Regardless of what you now claim, that WAS your logic, and it is still severely flawed regardless of this being a hypothetical or not. Purchasing warehouse space is not illegal. Nor is using that space to store goods. Nor is splitting those goods into smaller packages to be delivered to the US to avoid taxation. That is why it is called a exploiting a loophole, and not tax fraud or tax evasion. Trump, being the dumbest president America has ever, could have fixed this by writing an executive order stating that congress should closed this loophole by changing the wording of the law to specifically exclude the corporations from benefits from the it, and could have even gone so far as to suggest specific penalties that could be applied by the justice department for breaking that law once in effect. Instead, he chose to throw a temper tantrum like the toddler that he is and start a trade war with 3 countries (and probably more in the future), that will severely damage our economy, as well as ruining relations with our closest allies. Not to mention, that we as a country absolutely allow the same thing (permitting companies to set up shop in our countries specifically to avoid paying taxes to other countries, both allies and enemies. Some of those tax avoidances being legal, and others not so much.)

If Canada is indeed housing facilities with a large amount of cargo from China to help with avoiding the tariff that is currently in place, then it is guilty of being the loophole that is preventing the tariff and America is being cheated out by your country by illegal allowing this to happen. It is not fair that you have a massive amount of product that has been imported without any tariff to get through the loophole that would help the American economy. You are guilty of stabbing your biggest trading partners in the back via loopholes. I can’t confirm this is the truth, but if it were true, then Canada has absolutely stabbed the United States in the back and our economy has gone through hell because of your country allowing this to happen

There's a good chance that will happen anyway. The good thing is the Idiot President announced his plans ahead of time and we in Canada had time to prepare for some products before the tariff's kicked in. So we probably have maybe a few weeks of produce all across Canada already, and have already been working on other suppliers to import from. Many Canadians have learned growing up to stockpile on essentials and dry goods. And we already have anything that reaches Canada before Tuesday from the US that the tariffs won't be added to, so that's a few more weeks or longer. We'll be ok. And the shipments would be larger as that would now be more cost-effective. By having larger but fewer shipments coming directly from China The ability to search for drugs in the shipment will be greatly increased and China will be directly culparable to any drugs found in them. @ Nothing in the video explained what I'm asking. It whines a little about how unfair America is being because Canada isn't as bad as some others, but it certainly doesn't answer the question 'why not?'. Fortunately, I get my information from more than KZbin videos - case in point: according to U.S. Customs & Border Protection, in FY23 alone, 85% of all suspected terrorists encountered at land border ports of entry have crossed into the United States along the Northern border. THAT is why America demands that Canada takes the simple, common sense action of securing their own borders. Again, I ask - for what possible reason wouldn't they?

It's not Canada that doesn't get that, we don't want it here either. Its not our government making it, it's dealers and crime syndicates that prosper off of it and make it. Why is Trump not going directly after them... Wait, don't answer that, I know the reason. It's because Trump only has balls of a mole and doesn't want to try to start a war with drug cartels because he knows where that will take him, or what's left of him, his grave. He's never had any balls and has always been overtly shifty and conning.

The USA is heavily invested in unrefined oil from Canada. It's about time Canada built their own refineries. Just like China and Russia (import less from USA and build their own stuff, eg aviation) other countries will become less reliant on USA. Eventually nobody will need or want the USA and it will be thanks to Trump and his Republicans. The USA can build a Trump wall around the whole country and the rest of the world can get on with their own stuff.

One glaring oversite that you're missing is it's as much about being two bordering countries not securing their respective demarcations, living up to agreed treaties and as Trump claims abusing or taking advantage of said Trade deals in the past. So this is more about abuse over time and less about current or recent direct numbers.

Í double majored in political science and American history in college. I learned that at no time in American history has this country economically profited from a tariff "war" with our allies (Canada's definitely an ally) or mostly anyone else either with some wartime exceptions. For someone with more money than God it seems Trump would be aware of this as he does plenty of overseas business. I think all this amounts to is Trump trying to show his far right wing support base that he's "standing up" for America to "make America GREAT again". Which always leaves me wondering when did we stop being great to begin with?🤔 My own political mantra has always been to both the left and right, AMERICA, LOVE IT OR LEAVE IT👍 I've never known a time in my own 68 years of living that America wasn't great!!

As a Korean, I can see that Trump is dead serious about stopping China's toxic behavior. He's being tough on Canada first to make this happen. He's counting on his closest allies to set the record straight, and once that's done, he'll turn his focus to other regions. I'm glad he's taking this seriously, but I'm also pretty scared because my place has also been significantly damaged by the CCP.
