Jeez I’m a Brisbane supporter, but I tell ya what, Nathan Buckley would have to be one of my favourite voices in the footy media landscape. Measured, unbiased, honest. Such a likeable character.
@zenarcher22509 сағат бұрын
Tom Morris has copped a lot of flak for much of the season, but I've actually found him to be really likeable and quite professionally plying his journalistic trade. But this performance was the antithesis of professionalism and the nose picking was the least of the issues. He spent the entire interview with his VIP expert guest looking distractedly around the studio, disengaged and only tuning in to offer some cliche like "flat track bullies". Totally unprofessional and disrespectful to a champion of the AFL like Nathan Buckley who has become a total media professional through hard, conscientious work. Tom needs to understand that his job as host of the broadcast is not to worry about his text messages or what other people in the studio are doing. He should have a laser like focus at all times on what his guests are saying rather than only engaging when he sees an opportunity to give his tuppence worth of trite comments. I think Tom has spent too much time around Kane Cornes, desperately looking to peddle tabloid journalism headlines or concoct hyperbolic conclusions, a la McAveney. Hats off to Nathan Buckley for his excellent analysis, his balanced appraisal of the grand final teams, the key moments and players and his articulate, engaging delivery. And his acknowledgment of Oscar McInerney's selfless role in supporting and celebrating his team mates despite his devastating hurt at missing the GF through injury was pure class, placing Bucks above all the other AFL pundits.

Whilst I agree it’s time for the old Horse to be put out to pasture (Football Director would be a better position for him), it’s Sydney going woke (your so called “new age energy” 🤮) with their DEI female sports psychologist brainwashing the players into thinking “one game doesn’t define you” (when it’s another Grand Final thumping, yes it certainly does!), and “winning the premiership is just the cherry on top” (Robbie Fox quotes post match) absolute nonsense (the premiership IS the whole cake), and pernicious things like taking “sons” out of the club song, shows the woke malaise infecting this once respected Bloods culture, which is not a shadow of the hard sides of 2005/06 and 2012 …

Sydney's reactions were too tardy. What the? And they ran to the wrong areas of the ground to defend. And they didn't learn where to run until the last quarter. And by their body language, they had spat the dumb by that stage, and so it didn't matter anyway. Cos they still couldn't stop them. I don't think it's a GF that proves how good Brisi were. But how Sydney didn't do things that you would expect from an under 12 or 15 side. What the? I would stop short of saying too much about tactics. Cos Dimma's system is everywhere, and there just aren't teams doing anything that stands out these days. Apart from hawthorn. They are the outlier of the comp tactically. So, I don't think it's not fair to say much about Faigs regarding tactics. Or anything that indicates him proving himself or no.

Taking “sons” out of the song to appease their AFLW side is the final straw for me.
