@@tryscience Is that based on previous F&B experience in Ph and more specifically that location? How many expats are in the locality, at what capacity does the resort typically run at? Then there's the 2 sets of books issue, dont get me started. This is not personal, its just a really bad idea. F&B in ph is extremely difficult at the best of times.

My business concerns property, obviously owned by my Filipina wife, of 12 years, but bought by me! We have 3 residential properties, 2 of which we rent out while living in the third. We also own a store and a coffee shop/cafe which we built from scratch after buying the land, located next to a hospital so the income is regular, from nurses and visitors. We rent out 11 units to nurses from the hospital and visitors buy their knick-knacks at the store and then stop off at the cafe for snacks after their visit. I would say we have a monthly income of PP 80-100, 000, but we don't pay rent. The simple thing is to do your due diligence, don't extend yourself and exercise a degree of control.

Congrats! I’ve been wanting to start travel vlogging. I have the gear and so much footage but I never seemed to get around to editing and practicing speaking on camera. I’m in Olongapo and your videos on Vigan (I’ve been talking about going there for a few years) and Bataan (it’s a scenic 3-hour motorcycle ride from me) have inspired me. Thank you! Just in time for rainy season LOL! A word of caution: Filipino contractors finish their project on Filipino time, sometimes several months after their projected timeline! It can be maddening! Have a good written contract that spreads payment among specified milestones and do NOT deviate from it no matter how much they tell you it’s Friday and their guys need the money. It’s like having a bad contractor in the west but on steroids. Best of luck to you on this onward and upward arc in your life!

Start a case study on Coastal Road Resto in Iloilo and you will surely be in a right track. People loves to eat at any baybay or sea area. Don't make it like an exclusive for certain people only coz at the end of the day you will gain more customers along the way if you provide good food and nice area.

Mike, I have learned a lot about the Philippines from you. I am leaving Tampa today and driving to LA. I have two dogs coming with me and it is too hot here to have one fly cargo. I catch my plane to Cebu on Wednesday. It is 3 in the morning here and my shipper is coming for my balikbayn boxes at 10. As soon as my boxes are gone I am hitting the road for the drive and my last adventure in America. Seems that both of us have big changes in our lives.d

Sergeant Preston's Lonely Hearts Club Bar. You have heard of Sergeant Preston of the North West Mounted Police? TV show, a long time ago. I actually met him in Ottawa in the summer of 62, I think it was. (Or someone dressed up in his uniform form, fur hat and all.) I asked him if he wasn't too hot wearing all that but he said it wasn't that bad. I was pretty warm in my Boy Scouts uniform. We had been a on a camping trip at Clarendon Lake, later renamed Great Gull Lake. Our tents were located way at the North end and I had no idea the lake was much larger to the South. Good luck with the new venture. ~Ron in Pennsylvania.~

Yeah, you're right, one thing about Filipinos they don't like to support a foreigner with a business. They really don't like it, I have only seen 6 foreigner started businesses in 20 years and they ally went belly up. Some even got closed down under suspicious circumstances. But hey until you try, you will never know, you got to give it a go.

Things are advancing on many fronts! Good stuff! I can relate to the name you've selected for the bar re-do... Coming from Northern Minnesota on the border (and the family having a cabin in Ontario, Canada), beavers were a part of that... Used to have trap lines to catch them over the winters, and we'd sell the pelts in the Spring... You're really immersing yourself in the local community and culture... That's what it takes to really get the most out of the overseas experience, IMO... Having been pretty much an expat for 50 years, I have found that to be the case... Happy for you, bro! 🙏🙏🙏 👍😎👍

Just a few years ago it was very uncommon to meet westerners, but now they (we) are many. Good luck with your business! Two things I've always missed in Roxas is 1- a bar with really cold beers and 2- motorbike rental - just some friendly tips! 😜
