Similar in some key ways. But there is better steel on the KVAR, and I just don't prefer a scandi grind on a pocket knife except for when I am on a hike or camping, but that's just me.

Interesting knife, and I appreciate the review. That method of using the liner and a bar to replace the usual sort of spring steel bar in a back-lock knife that often rusts, bends, or is a nuisance for teardown is indeed clever. I'm not machinist or engineer, but if those liners aren't made of a spring steel of some sort, does flexing that way against the flat plane not risk them bending or warping? I ask the question more out of curiosity than expectation that it's a problem. I suppose it's probably comparable to what you expect of a liner lock knife? Interesting either way.

It does make reassembly tricky, but even a traditional spring of this same strength makes reassembly quite tricky. Those are very good questions. I have the same question about the steel type chosen for the liners and I have asked them the same question. I hope they let me know soon - when I have that information I will put it in a video, at least in a Short.

Would you call it a clip point? I mean, its a very long clip point, but... Edit: Given the weight and size... This seems more like a belt knife to me.

I would probably call it a clip point, but I wouldn't say that someone calling it a straight-back was wrong either. I will carry it as a pocket knife, but I can understand why you might prefer it as a belt knife. My issue with belt knives is that I don't like how they feel when I am seated, but tgere are some sheaths that hold the belt knife on an angle and that is much more agreeable to me.
