To anyone thinking about buying this, DONT! They have now removed many of the include features and moved them to a paid subscription model. You now have to buy a pricey subscription to be able to use night mode, to be able to see more than a few seconds of motion, and now for it to even record all motion. They have deleted my account when I asked about this in the fourms. Amazon is taking full refunds from anyone that has bought one from them due to this.

Canary got a lot of pushback on the service changes you mentioned, and they responded favorably. As of this week, they’ve extended the length of recorded video clips from 10 seconds to 30 seconds. They are also relaunching Night mode for all Canary users.

HandyDadTV Id like to see more than 30 seconds. My camera sees though a window next to the front door. Someome standing there knocking will set off the motion, they may well take more than 30 seconds to check if someone is home before forcing entry. Two out of the 4 apartments on my floor were broken into this way. The camera is on it's way back to amazon now.

I have this and your idea of pricey is 30 dollar yearly subscription that hold weeks worth of video. That is REALLY cheap compared to ADT and others. It also moves with you from apartment to apartment as needed.

Canary has newer versions as well. I don’t have any vids on them, but check out the “It’s Rose” channel. She specializes in the latest security technology.

I bought an all in one canary and less than a year later they increased the price on me. Talk about moving the goal posts after making an expensive decision! You would think existing users would be grandfathered in, but no. After purchase, they also disable features forcing you pay them more and more. This makes me wonder how successful their company is doing and will they still be around in the near future.

I am a big supporter of the products and have all of them for various reasons and locations. My only issue after using them for about a year is that the "AI" that it uses is not as smart as they advertise. My cat and dog will both set the cameras off as people even though this is advertised as not being likely. The second issue is that the camera will sometimes not recognize my phone as being home for quite a while and will see me as an intruder. Minor issues really when I am the final authority on what to do rather than ADT.

I was at a funeral and I kept getting alerts about someone in the house. There was nobody here. I also have the blink camera by my kitchen window facing the front door and there wasn't anyone coming in the home. As you can imagine that's scary

Bought the pro a few years back before options were peeled away, then made billable... 😡 Still, I gave consideration to buying a flex to expand visibility around home due to a recent event, but their website wouldn't let me purchase the Father’s Day package deal. Online/virtual customer support experience was terrible and never got a clear answer. Was told I had browser issues after nearly a whole day of talking to them. Would not recommend to anyone.

I had a 6 second delay too!! So that must be pretty standard (on WiFi). I'm wondering if there is less of a delay when it is connected to the Ethernet cable. 6 seconds can make all the difference in the world when it comes to a break-in, but its all going to get recorded either way, more so of the alert delay that would concern me. But considering it's not hardwired to my phone, I don't' think 6 seconds is bad at all.

I have done both. It is about 2.5 second delay on my WiFi and about 2 seconds on my Ethernet. Either way it is minor inconvenience when even my CCTV has 2.5 seconds of delay over the network. A lot is going on and that delay is normally caused by your network not the device.

Do you have to enable location on constantly on your phone for Canary to work?

From what I know, you don't need to have location on, as long as you have your WiFi enabled on your phone. This is only if you have it set to AUTO mode because basically the Canary detects when your phone disconnects from the WiFi connection and thus you have 'left the home'. I prefer the manual setting from Home to Away (and set Night mode on Auto with time constraints), it gives it more of a real security system feel by Arming and Disarming, that way I know for sure that it is on or off recording mode.

there should seriously be an option to have this function without wifi, like maybe ethernet cable, or just plug in and only use wifi when it needs to alert. The concern is EMF

Are you saying that you can't watch live video let's say if you're up stairs in your house unless you are recording? Also does that mean I can't sound the alarm either if I here something and see something on the video unless I'm recording? I have cats and rather not be recording all night.

You can watch Live feeds 24/7, if it is set to away mode or you have motion detection set up it will ALSO record, however you can always simply watch the live feed straight from you phone even when you're in the house. You can also sound the alarm when your in the house as you would a cars Panic button on the key fob directly from the Canary app when you have it open; so for example if an intruder enters the home on the first floor and you are on the top floor but can see that they have entered , you can hit the Siren button and it will go off even when you are in the home.

You’d need to check the OS requirements on their website. But it’s been around for years so I’d be really surprised if it didn’t work with a new phone.

Mine will not connect to my Iphone10 by bluetooth although it did come with the yellow cable, I do not have an audio input on my phone. Also tried to connect it to my IPad which does have the input but it still won't connect. It is a 2015 model bought on Amazon about a month ago. New in the sealed box. Any suggestions before I send it back?

Thing is, it wired and there’s a little delay on the live video and can’t be mounted on the wall or ceiling. And once the thief/thieves locates it they’ll just unplug and or destroy it.

Do some research. Then you need to learn more about Canary. I have a mobile version for my daughter in collage that can be left for weeks as long as there is not a lot of motion constantly making it record. It can be mounted anywhere and easily moved and charged. It caught a room mate stealing cloths in her room. The room mate saw it and covered it but it was too late. The cloud had her in the room and walking over to the camera. A thief would get caught no mater what. The video is sent to the cloud and it is always available even if the camera is taken.

Absolutely love my Canary Security Camera I have the plain white one But it actually recorded a crime and I’m using it with the Phoenix police So I can have these people arrested for stealing my bicycle yes I do trust in Canary Camera security system on upgrading to the full monitoring Subscription where they actually watch it and do all the calling the police and everything without me doing anything

I'll call bullshit on this. Had the canary view for less than one day. after setup the picture was good that's the only good thing about it, the lag time was horrific at best i'm guessing about 5-6 frames per minute. The night vision ahhhhh No. Took mine back to get a refund. I did buy 2 of them both the same . Just maybe I got 2 bad ones !

Canary was the first of its kind. Now there are many copycats with better features. The best feature I liked about Canary is geofencing. I haven’t found a cheap camera that does that.

I put one in yesterday 2/23/19 and what a piece of SHIT!!!!!!!! the picture quality totally SUCKS ASS and I could not make out my own face on my brand new IPHONE . I am taking it back TODAY and what pisses me off is I work where I bought it I feel like an IDIOT. This is a total RIP OFF.
