Awful customer service. It has been three weeks I asked to reset my device I purchased in 2018. They keep sending me emails every other day I provide all the information. This device doesn't store any information inside and all resetted by them. Regardless the device is mine since 2018. And all I did was to change my cell phone. I am in the same address more than a year. Finally I fed up and filed a complaint today officially

Is there a long wait time after a person was detected until the notification is received? like 3sec, 7sec?

Thinking about putting this camera in the living room of my moms home. She is 92 and has dementia and I live 1000 miles from her. She has a caretaker who often goes “MIA.” I’m thinking this camera will keep her honest. I don’t mind paying 10 bucks a month. Just need an easy set up where I can get a log of when her caretaker comes and goes.

Hi Paul, this is a good choice for that because it has person detection. But if you want something with even more specific data, I'd look into a camera with facial recognition like the Netatmo Welcome. Canary seems to be having problems. I can’t even set up an account. They send an auto reply stating they acknowledge they are having system problems but there isn’t anyone live to speak to. I’m returning. Poor customer service and they are obviously over their heads. The netatmo camera seems to only record on an SD card and does that mean if I’m not there I can’t access it? And there doesn’t seem to be audio. Being able to talk to my mom through the system and also trigger an audio alarm seemed like big benefits but they are lacking. Any other options? Too bad that Canary seems to have outgrown their ability to serve. It seemed the better option.

Have you checked out the Kodak cherish 685? Has temperature monitor - 2 way voice - cloud storage - and a method to pan, tilt and control the camera from your phone - which is great as I am 1000 miles away and only get in 1-2x a year. The only thing missing is an alarm when a new face is detected but it has motion and sound notifications which may suffice.

After getting screwed by guardzilla camera paperweights I will never purchase or use any security camera that doesn't record locally and must be connected to the companies servers to work or use necessary features. A couple years ago guardzilla security cameras opened and began selling all-in-one security cameras. Security cameras that only record to the cloud have notoriously bad server problems because of the massive amount of data that is being stored in real time. One day all guardzilla camera owners could no longer use the cameras or log in. All recorded video was gone. After a couple days their website said they closed. The cameras would never work again. Although they closed and the cameras were useless they didn't tell their vendors and they sold them for weeks after closing. I can't stress enough how problematic security cameras like these are. Guardzilla isn't unique as dozens of cameras companies have come and gone in the last couple years. If your power goes out they don't work. If your wifi goes out they don't work. If their servers have problems they won't work. If you have payment issues they won't work. If you have internet speed problems then they won't work. If they are hacked then you have no backup recordings. If you have account issues. You have zero privacy and have to decide if you want security or privacy. When you register the devices part of the terms of service that you must sign gives them the right to use the videos of your most intimate and private time however they want which includes selling it to a third party.
