The 777 exceeds the taxiway weight so it needed to use the whole runway so it could turn around. The rwy is plenty long enough for any heavy jet!

+Pete Richards yes, you are right! I got my facts wrong. But it is rather unusual for an airplane to have to do a U-turn on the runway after landing.

Pete Richards perhaps only at airports where the traffic isn’t too heavy. The longer the plane stays on the runway, the fewer the planes that can land.

No, the runways pretty long! It does that because the aircraft is too big to fit on the taxiways down that end of the runway (17) because it's rarely used.

Its all true and also the only big Plane 747-800 that has landed was from China in January this year... And we don't have A380's because the runway isn't strong enough for them... I know because my Uncle is cabin crew for Qantas
