Very nicely done. Congratulations on not resting on your past achievements with the Vulcan too and bringing this lovely lady back to life.

Any news? It was due to be back in the air this year.

I was at Doncaster for a Vulcan event in Jan 2016 and apparently they'd hit some major issues with the programme. At some time the cockpit had been stripped out to deal with some corrosion issues but whoever did the work had simply cut the connections without labeling anything. As this was already an extensively modified airframe sorting that out is, to put it mildly, a nightmare. Then after the Shoreham crash the CAA had revoked (check the report out - it's near the end) any military certification of the Avon engine so the zero-hours bagged engines they'd sourced were going to have to be completely re-built. I think the bottom line on this is the aircraft had probably been flown by the Classic Air Force in a marginally un-airworthy condition, it arrived at Doncaster in a condition that seriously compromised it's return to flight and it will only ever be restored to a static display condition.

Likely never, now. The requisite funding wasn't found at the time, and it has been sat outside in pieces since thy got unceremoniously booted from their hangarage at DSA. Some of the funding is now going to the Etna hangar.

See my comment above - it won't and to me that's very sad but it happens.

Beautiful plane, I hope they get it in the air and keep it there, unlike with the Vulcan.
