In the 2010s, colors was decently fun, generation was amazing, lost world wiiu was ok, 3DS was... eh, boom wiiu was 💩, the 3DS boom games were harmless but meh, Mania was great, Forces was mediocre, and TeamRacing was underwhelming. So out of the 10 games, maybe like 4 was really great, others were meh to bad.

I think the person that pitched Shadow World assumed Shadow was some kind of Bizarro Sonic from a dark reality. It could have been reworked into them exploring the Black Arms world tho. That sounds cool.

The funny thing is that reworked idea probably wouldn't have panned out either. IIRC, Black Doom was one of the very few or even the only non-Penders and non-Chronicles characters that the Archie comics weren't allowed to use after SEGA started caring about the comics, so I imagine they want people to forget that the game Shadow the Hedgehog happened.

To add onto the Sister Sonic info, we likely DO have a design of how she would have looked. An old German SEGA documentary video was posted online at one point, in it we see sketches of characters that originated from a very old Sonic manga that had came out back then, one of them was Sonic's little sister from said manga. The thing to note, Amy and Charmy also originated from this manga, and aren't game original characters, so while there's no proof, it does strongly suggest to me they were planning to take more characters from that manga and make them official game characters at one point. kzbin.info/www/bejne/onTcmqBnqtSGoLs&t=261 The video in question.

We still did see Seaside Hill a lot even if it was mostly in spin-offs like the Sega racing games and one of the Mario & Sonic Olympic games, and of course Sonic Dash and Generations.

i dont think Climax knew that it was Seaside Hill knowing how they made a pitch for a game that had Shadow coming from a "Shadow world" and not even knowing that Shadow was created on the same universe sonic is. So i think they just went and checked some of the most popular games sonic had at that time, and for the look of the textures they went and prehaps asked for Sonic Heroes resources being how popualr Sonic Heroes was and knowing that this was a PSP game and kinda was pitched before Sonic Rivals was out, so they thought that it was Green Hill because every sonic game almost starts at a beach like area and kinda all look the same.

Apparently no one likes Knuckles Chaotix. It’s not better then the classics, but it’s not a dark age game imo. I’ll even say it’s one of the more under appreciated ones. Not that it’s a hidden gem or anything. But it’s a game I rather play over some lesser good ones. It was an interesting one. Even the most infamous unplayable games has it’s fans.

I remember hearing about some project called Sonic Dimensions back in the early 2010s, which would have been about the doctor splitting everyone (including himself) into 5 copies of themselves each with a distinctive personality. One big problem with the Sonic Fandom is that, well even the gems are often hated by some section of the audience. Sonic Heroes has its fans but some people hate it worst than Shadow the Hedgehog, and you can make that argument about nearly the entire catalog

I think the Dark Age mostly counts mainline games and occasionaly brings up more sidegames to fortify it's existance. Truth is there are a mix of good,decent,meh and bad games throughout the entire era of modern Sonic with the only difference being the amount of good games declining and more decent/meh games appearing like Team Sonic Racing, Sonic Forces, Lost World and the 3DS Sonic Boom games. The decline of Sonic's quality in general seems to be an example of Sonic Team only learning about their mistakes temporarily to then forget about them and repeat the same process. With how Sonic Frontiers is shapping up there is a genuine reason to be worried about the game's quality. I personaly think it will end up being decent but that's just wishful thinking.

9:10, I also had a V-Smile, but it somehow disappeared when my family temporarily moved to our neighbor's house. The only games I seem to remember playing on the console were Alphabet Factory, Spider-Man and Friends, and Cars. To this day, I have not seen a single lets play of these three games. Judging by the photo, the controller seems to be a bit more complex than I remember.

SegaSonic Arcade must have had an intense inspiration from SegaSonic bros, due to both the name, and the colors. Yellow Sonic is Ray, Sonic is Sonic Red Sonic is Mighty. To make this better Mighty was a slight sprite change for Sonic in Knuckles Chaotix, and in Mania, their sprites barely change from Sonic’s.

I think that “the dark age of sonic” refers to how badly the series was doing at the time. Sonic was clowned left and right, while in the late nineties he was still expected to produce quality games.
