He probably is. It’s been said by Tennessee Alum and Pat summit that Geno was so upset he didn’t get Candace that he broke NCAA rules to get Maya Moore ( who was next up at that time). He did everything possible to make sure Maya did NOT choose Tennessee over UConn like CP did.. smh.

If Pat Summit loved Maya so much she would not have reported the supposed recruiting violation which if it went in favor of Tenn, would have impacted Maya Moore’s eligibility. That was dirty. Regardless of what tactics were used Maya chose where she chose and that should have been the end of it. Maya saw Tennessee’s true colors after she committed and was almost immediately showed that she made the right decision.

She’s been slighted by Geno and when Geno has been confronted on having UCONN favoritism he has been dismissive and saying he doesn’t think any other roster could get it done. He made excuses. When there are a handful of other players that could def help win gold. Candace Parker, Kahleah Copper, Jonquel Jones, Nneka, Courtney Vandersloot, Ali Quigley, Dewanna Bonner and so on.

The thing about the women’s game, the United States’ dominance has been long term but it hasn’t been perpetual. The Soviet Union was an even more dominant force from the 50’s to the mid-80’s. Even after the changing of the guard, when the US thumped the Soviets twice in their own country in 1986, the Americans stubbed their toes a few times, including a 110-107 loss to Brazil in the ‘94 World Championship semis (you can find that game in bits and pieces here on KZbin). But combine the NBA getting involved with the US women with the death of the Soviet Union and Yugoslavia (plus the failure of a Lithuania/Croatia/Serbia rising from their ashes as happened on the men’s side) and you now have total US dominance.

I know one of the coaches who was on staff at the time this went on who said Candace’s attitude was not only clashing with Geno it was with some of the other players as well. They said in 2012, Candace didn’t like coming off bench she felt like she should start. Going into 2016 camp she felt like she should have been a starter over BG and her and Geno got into a mild argument that DT jumped in. I was told she was the only player at the camp constantly complaining and she had a problem on almost a daily basis. What Candace didn’t realize was that the USA basketball executives were watching every practice and felt like some of her antics were taking away from the team’s goal. I was also told during a scrimmage, she got beat by Breanna Stewart going baseline off the dribble and because she didn’t want the then rookie Stewie to embarrass her she fouled her so hard that Stewie couldn’t finish practice. Candace had the best stats at the camp but her personality wanting things to always be about her allegedly was the issue. I also was told Geno was not the only committee vote that voted for her not to be on the team. The vote leaving her off in favor of Stewie and EDD was unanimous. But Candace only blames Geno. Geno didn’t have an issue with Catchings because her attitude wasn’t bad. CP3 and Geno just clashed. And at the end of the day because of the talent team USA has they don’t necessarily need you if you aren’t a team player. Candace refused to get along with the coach so I’m not sure why she thought she was still going make the team. I’ve also heard these exact claims from two athletic trainers who worked that camp as well. Everyone can’t be lying.

Fact: CP3 was the one Tennessee Volunteer player to prevent UConn women from winning NCAA championships during her college career. Dawn Staley was the coach when Nneka was left off the team. Was Dawn blamed for it? No. People understood it was the committee’s decision. But for some reason Candace won’t accept that it was the committee, not Geno, who decided she wouldn’t be on the team. She’s obviously talented, but if the committee doesn’t think she would help w/ team chemistry & attitude & they already have people at her position then there was no need to have her on the team

Sorry facts hurt. The coaches don't vote or pick the team for this very reason. Mens & womens coaches in the past have said i coach whom they pick. Her poor attitude is why the committee didn't pick her. There is a picture of a her rolling her eyes as the coaches explain stuff, that sums up her attitude. It's why she didn't get picked, they dealt with her before, they didn't want to again
