Maserati at 100 -- Ghibli vs Mistral

As Maserati celebrates its centenary, C&SC takes to the road in two iconic 1960s GTs that were on sale at the same time yet marked a sea-change in Trident philosophy. They are the gorgeous Mistral, the last coupé to use the thoroughbred twin-cam straight-six, and the stunning Giugiaro-styled Ghibli, powered by the quad-cam V8 that would be a Maserati staple until the mid-'80s.

The one I had, AM115870, drove like the sexiest truck in the world. Heavy clutch and steering, firm ride on that solid rear axle, but that sound, oh that sound! Roared like a lion right outside your tent, glorious.

I did indeed have a Maserati Ghibli, chassis number AM 115870, a European spec car, grey market import. 4.7 liter, metallic blue over a terra-cotta red interior. Drove like a truck, but a sexy one. What Maseratis do/did you own? As for my grasp of the English language, I would point out that where you use the possessive "your", the correct word is the contraction "you're". You're welcome.

My heart beats fast for the amazing Ghibli, for me the most beautiful GT coupe of this era, the only one to deserve the name of this wind! The sound of the engine is glorious(Unfortunately the sound of your vid is a little bit weak even with a headset). Anyway, thank you very much to share with us Cheers

the thing about these pre super cars is the fact that they were not built to race they were built to cruise and so because of this they can be enjoyed equally at any speed
