Good sensible video. Thank you for pointing out that many dojo knife self defense techniques are not truly practical in real life encounters. In learning good knife self defense, one must understand the realistic knife attack movements. Yes, the cane is an excellent tool to defend yourself with from knife attacks. I look forward to viewing more of your videos.

I remember Jon Altman swinging at air with his figure 8 useless on Kiko.. once he started " Targeting" areas Kiko didn't have a chance

Right on Nicholas Hall! That's why the reality based scenario training in American Cane Boxing is a must. We can '"theorize" all day, but nothing teaches like go time. Thank you for commenting Sir!

Great stuff. Your presentation makes me think you may have experience in public speaking. You obviously have a solid understanding of edged weapons. Plus you have a back up knife in your pocket. I would like to see more caveats presented about the disarming personally. I am not a “disarms don’t work” guy, however I am a “disarms work best when you’ve rocked your opponent “ kind of guy. Those disarms can be hard to pull off with an opponent who is physically tempered through strength training or a life of hard labour… you know this I am sure, because you know your stuff. I would just add a few more caveats like that… just my opinion though. Great presentation beyond that. Your playful attitude into serious subject matter is pretty awesome. You are serious, but you don’t take yourself too serious. That’s a great way to be in this industry. What systems of martial arts did you train in before you came into this? By the way, you say many of the same things I do when I teach knife defence. I really enjoyed this video. I honestly took some time to get on board with you… I wasn’t sure. But you’ve found a niche to present solid martial arts in your unique way, I 100% support that. Sorry, you don’t need my approval… kind of arrogant of me throwing that out there, but I wanted to let you know I like what you are doing in an industry of jealousy and insecurity. (Martial arts) in a time when people just want to troll other people. I’m going to go hit the subscribe button.

Thank you for commenting Joel, sharing your insights and your kind feedback! ACSD was originally created to defend against knife attacks. If you go through the channel you'll find other segments on the topic. Good observations on your end. Stay Safe 👊🏻
