It's interesting to watch real high level guys cause you notice alot of them never return the hand to the Chin after the punch. Every jab canelo threw went back to his body but every trainer teaches you the opposite?
@gabonchilirecipes85223 жыл бұрын
Basically keeping your hands up is an amateur, very basic defense. A low level boxer will jab then bring his hands back up to block the counterpunch and then explode out of the high guard with another punch. A high level boxer will jab to bait the counterpunch, then slip and counter, leaving no need to take an extra moment to bring the hands up to block. For reference, you can watch Lopez vs Lomachenko, first half of the fight Lomachenko has his high guard up half the time and gets absolutely nothing done because of it. Second half of the fight he drops the high guard and actually tries to feint, slip, and throw punches and has a lot more success. Because moving your head off the line is more useful at the elite level than bringing your hands up is.
@maniwyatt6793 жыл бұрын

This is gold. Guys he aint magical, he aint superman. OK he is a great athlete, but no. 1 reason he hits so well is technique. Perfect camera angle here to study him. So here's my takeaways. Throws jab almost like a lead hook. Look at his lead foot. Almost pivots. Look at his rear leg, moves almost in a circular motion around to his left, like a check hook mechanic. Also of course he distributing weight very quickly from back foot to front foot. That is jab 101, they teach you that in first lesson. But he is throwing it with a tiny bit of rotation to get power you would normally see in a hook, but in a jab. Mayweather also does that Ive seen. Prob maybe every good boxer does it, but for us amateurs, good to see. Jab doesn't need to be completely linear, can get that rotation in too

It's cool to see he has developed his own stance to work with his style and combinations, if you watch closely his shoulders aren't square over his feet (bad stance, amateur mistake) BUT he makes it work, see his jab hand shoulder is pulled behind his lead foot at the start of the sequence (thats how you know he's setting you up if he were your opponent) which would normally throw a person of balance by the second punch if they tried a 2 or especially a 3 punch combo, yet his double jab aligns his jab shoulder, center, over his lead foot, preparing him for a perfectly executed jab followed by a POWERFUL dominate hand cross. It's perfect. His initial stance makes him look like he's opened up, but the punches that follow the jab are maximum output, see the key to remember is for every punch you have to slip or defend your chances of getting tagged by the next punch increase significantly

Dear Canelo, if you're going to beat Bivol you must find a way to use his jab against him.
