I was in London in May of 2018, I was enchanted by the language and culture, I started searching for English classes on KZbin and I found Cangoru, now I'm even more delighted to discover this channel, I'm watching older videos and asking myself: Why have not I seen this before? " Thank you Christian for all this, I hope to meet you someday to thank you in person.

é mágica.....você simplesmente aprende English no susto.....🤭.It is not like that ... Take the anguish out of your chest .... your voice teaches with joy ... the sound of your voice becomes teaching to my ears .... I don't hear any more noise ... but yes, the impossible, it becomes possible .... I am learning and understanding english without subtitles .... your voice is a song to the sound of the englishy language .... it gets stronger. Whoever understands that learning English is their own effort, understands its teachings ... you teach how to think ... You hold it in your hand ... and show and demonstrate .... that you need to focus and force ... your celebration. The answer .... it is magic ..... you simply learn English in fright .... .🤭.

Hi Christian, this is Carlos from Argentina. This is a crystal clear explanation about cockney rhyming slang. In Argentina we do the same than in France, we invert the words (syllables) as well as there is something called “lunfardo” (slang) a typical way of speaking that came up with the tango, mainly in Buenos Aires. About cockney rhyming I recommend to “the community of the canguro” to watch “Mind you Language” a sitcom form the late ’70, there is a character there (Tommy Godfrey) that perform as a caretaker at the English school/institute for foreigners in London, he speaks pure cockney rhyming slang… it drives me bananas to understand him. Thank you Christian for teaching us these subtleties of the English language.

+Carlos Ponce Thanks Carlos for your detailed and informative comment! Tomorrow I am going to start reading about lunfardo and learn some more about it! Anyone who wants to see cockney slang in use should definitely watch 'Mind Your Language'! Great suggestion! See you again soon!

You’re welcome Christian … Here you have some examples of “lunfardo”, it is very difficult to translate into English but I'll try to do my best, that is… “Cambiar el agua de las aceitunas” ( to change the water of the olives)= to pee.!!, or “Chamullero (Chamullar: Conversar, murmurar)”= Talkative (a person that tries to convince to another to give or to do something on his/her favor by talking) or “Abatatarse: Asustarse”= get scared. There are many others. The “lunfardo” is very important for the Argentine culture; there is poetry, novels, movies, and tangos on this matter. But since you have a good command of Spanish I recommend you to visit the following link www.abctango.com/lunfardo/listado.php?indice=h

Christian… sorry to stick my nose in your conversation with Natalia, I also recommend you… Mr Julio Sosa (El varon del tango), his way of singing and saying the tango is unique, also you have Mr Cacho Castaña… this is more romantic and modern… mainly “Café la Humedad” “Garganta con Arena” dedicated to Polaco Goyeneche… “Cacho de Buenos Aires” among others.. Enjoy.

Thanks again for this new lesson ☺ You may not need this explanation, given that you actually gave us these just as examples, but still, in French, there's no d at the end of bizarre. and so its verlan gives zarbi (to be pronunced zarbee). and for métro, which however you spelled correctly, its verlan actually usually gives "trom" (the é is dropped). Well, that was my so useful help (lol) in return for your (actual) helpful courses ☺ Thank you again and take care
@Canguroenglish
@Canguroenglish 7 жыл бұрын
Thanks for that! I really appreciate your feedback! I actually found the examples in a French newspaper so I'm a bit shocked that they got 'tromé' wrong! Then again, you can't trust newspapers these days!
@didiersimon3060
@didiersimon3060 7 жыл бұрын
It's totally shocking, for trom, given the importance of such an information ... 😉 Well, for bizarre (ok, I watched a second time, there were actually no d on your label, I only thought I heard it when you said it), but anyway, it was misspelled and there, they could have checked a bit better .... ☺

Hi Cristian! As you just said, it is not always fun learning English like Cockney Rhyming Slang. In other words, this Cockney is very serious. I think it is very important to deal with that for having good understanding speakers from England, Ireland and ex... It was great topic for learning as every your lesson. Thanks a lot for this lesson. You said you'd do it and so you did as you said very quickly! About Cockney rhyming slang I knew two very important words for an English man.In this sentence :I had a cup of Rosey with the backed been this morning. I'm also gladly surprise of your knowledge in french verlan.evenif I don't like to use it myself I prefer to use french argaut (I'm also amused by your pronunciation of french "r" ,because it's a bit agy to roll the "r" in Nowadays french but it is not wrong either ). Thanks for continuing your lessons (in live or videos ) ,I don't have as much time as before to watch them and comment.But I follow them all !!

Thanks David, I'm glad you liked it! Believe it or not, I studied French at school for 6 years and my pronunciation is terrible! I am too used to rolling my R's because of the Spanish! I know the accent can be a realy big issue in English. It's less the case in french .As long as you have a good grammar your pronunciation will be less an issue. For this particular "r" pronunciation imagine the sound of a jota and atenuate it.
@Canguroenglish
@Canguroenglish 7 жыл бұрын
I can actually produce quite a good French 'r' when I concentrate, but somehow I always feel like I'm doing a bad caricature of a French person! Although I don't remember any of the French grammar I learnt at high school I think it would all come back to me after a few months in France!
