One of the pioneers. Without Barnes and Cannibal Corpse, who knows where the genres would be. Even bands like Slipknot were influenced by CC.....the possibilities never end. They were definitely important and necessary, like them or not.
@Divine_Serpent_Geh Жыл бұрын
Absolutely. Cannibal Corpse did an immeasurable amount of good for Death Metal. Also, yes… Paul, Joey, and Mick were/are know to be big Death Metal heads, hence there is influence all over Slipknot’s music. Funny how Cannibal Corpse would one day end up being on Knotfest many times.

To Scott Burns statement. Venom was still the most extreme form of Metal when Metallica came out. When Slayer came into the scene they carried the torch with Venom.

Tut Tut, she had to look to see who she was interviewing. Great to have interviews with Chris Barnes and Scott Burns. As always with the "Metal Bad" argument Scott nailed it, if you have a predisposition to someone things you shouldn't be exposed to what can set it off no matter what form it's in.

i agree entirely... I believe there are actually a lot more similarities between Hip-Hop vocals and Extreme Metal vocals than people think. With both you have to create lyrics and a vocal pattern etc that are interesting without a melody... I feel metal covers of rap songs can work pretty well.

I know its been months and this is kind of unrelated, but I was listening to six feet under's Haunted album from 1995, produced by Scott Burns. Scott Burns produced Sepultura's Arise in 1991 and Death's Individual Thought Patterns in 1993, which both have practically perfect production, especially ITP. How did he go from that to the production of six feet under's Haunted in 1995 which sounds like shitty metal production quality from 1987? Compare it to the quality of deicide's OUTC albm same yr
