Also do you have an amish cookbook that would have canning info that was used by the old order with old ways to do things that I could get a copy?

I have a question: I canned these yesterday. The only change was I forgot the bacon and I added a splash of Liquid Smoke. During canning, the contents seeped out of some jars and caused them not to seal. My altitude is 638 ft. My canner only has 5-10-15 pressure settings. I canned at 10 lb pressure for 95 minutes. What did I do wrong. By the way, they taste great! Thank you. Love your channel!!

This recipe looks great though, I've left out the bacon (that's one step too far for me 😂) but I currently have 18 pints in the PC... Looking forward to see how they turn out. I canned a few jars this summer. Question, when you prepare them, do you just cook them on the stove top? I am having a hard time getting them to thicken....Also I only have the options of pressure canning at 5, 10 or 15. I think I did 10 to be safe.
@maryfisher9888 Жыл бұрын
It depends on your altitude. For most people the 10 is good, but if you are high up on a mountain - 15. I don’t know what 5 is for- underwater? 😄 Seriously, however, look it up.
