Just wanted to tell you I am doing these beans today and I expect them to be wonderful. This recipe grabbed my interest, so now I'm looing at all the "meals in jars", LOL. German here, too. You neither soaked nor precooked the beans? Just want to make sure before I try it myself. We have always used white beans but I find the thought of using pinto beans interesting. However if I wanted to use white beans should I use more since they are smaller in size than the pinto? Also do you have an amish cookbook that would have canning info that was used by the old order with old ways to do things that I could get a copy?
