D3200 is an amazing little camera. You can photo anything with this and make some spectacular images. At this money it is a steal. Same processor as the Pro D4, superb resolution, kit lens images pin sharp. Plenty quick enough for general use, no worries in low light. Plastic is solid and durable. Nikons are dead reliable, it just works. Don't be fooled by entry level tag on it, this is a seriously capable piece of kit.

The image quality looks to be much nicer on the Nikon going on the comparison, is that fair to say? I'm on the verge on buying either the 100D or the Nikon D3300, the touch screen of the 100D is appealing but at the end of the day image quality matters more...

I compared both, read a ton of reviews and asked a million questions to the camera experts at the store. Ended up going with the Canon SL1. Image quality is really similar. They both have the same type image sensor and comparable lens. The extra mega pixels of the Nikon don't improve image quality unless you are blowing up your pictures to large posters. The battery life on the Nikon is much better. So it's nice to have 2 batteries for extensive shooting with the SL1. I really liked the small size and touch screen for easy to use and easy travel.

I recently upgraded from an old Fuji bridge camera to the Nikon D3200 and teamed it with the f1.8 50mm lens. The pictures it captures are stunning and I couldn't recommend it highly enough.

Also, a lot of photographers are posting reviews that you should never buy a bundle or use the kit lens. I don't agree at all. It's so relative to your needs and budget. The bundle lenses work really well for my needs, and since I'm not going to be doing highly paid professional work with a wide versatility, I don't need to buy a $600 18-200 lens, or some crazy $1,200 lens. I do professional videos for my own personal websites and work, and the inexpensive lenses still offer a lot of quality. The $300 55-200 canon lens works great for me!

Nice girls, quite "normal" review. 100D is probably bit better choice as it really is small (and even has appropriate small lens). But obviously in this segment, there is question if mirrorless isnt better option.. D3200 isnt bad, but it has quite heavy handed AA filter, which is effective in two things, reducing details and reducing visible noise. :) As opposed to that with better lens can Canon 100D quite shine..

3:45 I would disagree about the D3200's exposure meter being accurate. It's ok indoors, but anytime I've used mine outdoors during the day, I find my photos come out overexposed if I follow what the camera's saying. And by that, I don't mean it's just a little bit out, it's to the point where it's telling me to put my shutter at 1/40 in bright midday sunlight. Which is a shame, as it's genuinely the only gripe I have with my D3200. Other than that, it's an astounding camera

+TRASHoftheTITANS Yes, my D3200 is also VERY prone to overexposure, Im always using it with the exposure-compensation set between -0.7 to -1.0 -and I shoot in raw of course ;) I think Nikon is well aware of this and believes the the amateurs buying the camera will love the "bright and beautiful" images (blown white blotches on peoples faces that is..)

To add a little more detail, depending on your Canon/Panasonic DSLR model, you can actually hack it with Magic Lantern's firmware to get access to various features! i.e More video options, HDR/RAW video options, higher bitrates, etc etc intervalometer (interval shooting) and some other stuff.

Great info for both DSLR cameras but the voice is not sync with the dude talking in the first half of the video. Instead it show two girls talking with his voice in the background. I am guessing he chose these two from what looks like Hong Kong S.A.R. in the background to gain more maid audience.

Both with their fixed LCD screens took odd when people try to put them up to their eyes to use the screen in liveview. A Sony a6000 looks so normal in comparison.

Cannon for me, always felt like Jack of all trades of a camera. Nikon would be image quality for post processing. If you edit your photos a lot, I recommend Nikon but if you don't and value video capabilities, go with cannon. It's ultimately what camera feels the best for you. Cannon is similar to apple and nikon is similar to Samsung in terms of popularity as a camera so think of it like that.

Don't forget that since it is smaller, it use new batterai for 100D. So you can't invest baterai like in EOS xx that can be use in EOS more expensive beside 1D. CMIIW.

Well, that was suggestion. Choice is yours. Resulting problems too. :) By the way, 5DMK2 vs 6D in color terms isnt idea or impression, thats simply fact (actually very easy to measure, 6D colors are simply far far away from correct). Tho every new camera from Canon sucks in this department, it just happend that 6D is worst in this. People want el-cheapo CFAs for better noise, people get it. I dont care. 1Ds Mark II (not original 1Ds) is camera which is more capable then most photographers.

No, i had to actually delete it myself... i was just avoiding having to offend anyone here and start a flame war lol. anyways, there are clueless beginners who get trapped by these products; (we all did once when we were beginners) some actually progresses to becoming interested in real photography i.e knowing what equipment fits them, while others just stay ignorant and foolish to enjoy photography at all. Did you miss the part where he said he was "New to all this" he is not going to be adept at manual focus is most certainly expecting and planing to us AF. While in some limited circumstances manual focus can be faster AF is much better and more practical most of the time. Plus remember the G version can be manual focused as well and is better optically. The G is a full frame lens as well BTW.

Canon's is crippling their camera's nowadays, for the sake of business! srsly, they've been suppressing themselves from innovating. thanks god we have magic lantern ;) But if Canon will not come up with a new formula for FF's or a 1.6x Sensor with their next releases; I'll regret my recent switch to Canon and will be coming back to Nikon.

Ummm, not really, Sensor scores on D600/D4/D800 are better than any Canon FF sensors out there (thanks to Sony's exmor technology) and yes, you can find any proof out there! just download real world RAW samples and figure them out yourself. I've worked with the D600 and own a 5D3, gotta say, that DR on the D600 is fantastic compared to 5D3.

Do not get a D lens, it wont auto focus on a D3200. Get the G version. But if you are new to photography and/or DSLRs I would suggest sicking with the kit lens long enough to figure out what you really need before buying any other lenses.

IMO since the D3200 is only like $550 and the 100D is like $800 and they are both pretty much just a good except for the Nikon having a much better sensor, it is really no contest on witch one you should get.

I think you are wrong. Olympus Evolt E-410 is pretty comparable to the Canon 100D. Canon 100D is a little lighter and a bit narrower but a bit thicker. The Nikon is obviously huge compared to them both.
