This video reminds me the day when I got my Canon XL2. 24p, XLR, ND filters, native 16:9 aspect ratio. I fell in love with that camera, still here at my museum of old technology. I will work hard enough to get this one. Is like a new chance to embrace the joy of filmmaking, capturing light, getting the right moment through the lens. Wow, what a beautiful piece of equipment you got there! How many cheap second hand lenses to try?! ( or new ones) How many lens flares to catch?! This makes me want to grab the camera the whole day and invent myself a road trip, a music video, a commercial, a short film. Man... this camera.

Do you use your R5 like a cinema camera, or do you also use it for stills? The R5 is a great stills body, whereas the C70 obviously isn't.

raksh9 I bought it to be able to use my EF collection with an AF body that had decent enough specs. I should have listened when people commented negatively on the R5 for video usage, but I ordered it early, hoping an update would be released. It’s unusable for video as even the 4K IPB 25p footage edits horrendously (sometimes I don’t have time to transform into ProRes).

@@natashanicole7408 Oh, that's terrible. Thank you for this info, I was thinking of a R5 or R6 as a video primary hybrid cam (80% video 20% stills). But the C70 has really got my attention. Too bad our state premier reckons we can't work right now, or I'd be putting money towards one right away. Hopefully a firmware update will help your R5.

There is a disconnect between features and pricing for this camera that make it a massive deal breaker. The features of this camera make it a great entry level C100 replacement in the cinema line up. I was considering buying 3. Then a look at the pricing and it's almost $3000 MORE expensive than the C200 mkii but lacks many of that cameras midrange features. The C70 should not cost more than $4000AUD, but for whatever reason canon have decided to price it at more than double that. That's taken it off my shopping list. It's going to deprecate in value so quickly that it isn't worth a purchase, potentially even for a rental house. Canon, you need to sort out the RRP on this camera.

where are you seeing the c200 for 3000 less? A new c200 is 9k and a c70 is 9k? Are you referring to the c200b? or are you referring to used cameras?

I'm seeing it at all my regular suppliers@@calibabyy The C70 is not a horizontal product to the C200, it's an entry level model in a new body format. It should not be priced even close to the C200 let alone more expensive than it. That it isn't priced to reflect its position in the line up with translate directly into lower sales. Who is going to pay more for fewer features? It's weight might be good for drones, but there are better, cheaper ways to get a cine camera on a drone

TJ Marx see, I don’t see it that way, I think it’s absolutely horizontal as far as how the c200 is configured at the moment. Yes you lose raw but you gain a variety of 4k 10bit options all the way up to 120fps not available on the c200 before. For me at least, this is much more valuable for the overwhelming majority of the content I shoot. I can always rent a red or arri if the budget calls for the extra quality. You also get the same dual gain sensor on their higher end C series models and a 3 stop bump in dynamic range. No sdi, but you can get the BM adapter if you really want that and record pro res externally on a atmos using the hdmi. What limitations are you seeing that I’m clearly missing?

I'm seeing an bottom tier entry level product@@calibabyy of a new refreshed line up using a different format and new mount. The current C200 will get a refresh with the new mount and body format within the next 6 months. That will be a horizontal product. Because of that the C70 will depreciate to a quarter of the current RRP within 6-8 months. That's before we even discuss missing features. An RRP somewhere around $3500AUD-$4000AUD is about right for this product. If you want to spend more than double what it's worth and deal with rapid depreciation, that's your choice. But most people make smart business decisions and won't

TJ Marx see I’m wary that they will replace the c200. As of now, there isn’t really a price point for it with how the current lineup stands. It’s almost like the c70 sits right in between the c100 and c200. I hope I’m wrong, but I can’t point to a time where canon released a product, then a few weeks later, significantly drop that product in price to fit a new model in the line up. In your mind, what would a c200 offer that wouldn’t canibalize c300 sales? There really isn’t much left in terms of features they can add, if they expand to offer internal raw or pro res the c300 is done.... maybe a c200 in like a year maybe 2? The c300 just came out, so I don’t see them doing anything to jeopardize those sales.

Dear Canon with 5.5k $ us I buy 3 BM 6k or 3 Nikon z6 with Video in Full Frame and 4k Pro Res Raw + 2 Atom Ninja V Recorders. In these times of pandemic, that price does not match the reality of many event videographers or independent filmmakers. This price will make Sony, Nikon and Blackmagic happy. Very bad Canon!

The features and ease of use on the Canon are well worth the money. Face tracking AF,, dual recording, NDs, XLR audio, longer battery life, 4k 120. If you don't need those features, there are plenty of other cameras that would work for you.

Well not really cuz the R5 does shoot 8k, and if you want to put up with its BS you will get an 8K result. So not really a gimmick but a little trick

Looks like Canon have no idea what they are doing. Overheating R5/R6, no 8K or at least 6K in C70. C70 isn't full-frame. Pricing on C70 is mind-boggling (you can get a C200 or TWO x C100ii for the money), RF lenses require systems switch... I guess I'm switching to A7Siii when it comes out.
