When I go to the "auto" mode to set the timer and press to take a photo on my Canon Rebel T100, nothing happens after pressing "set" for timer. Once set in "auto" mode, should it not just take a photo?

when you set the timer, pressing set just tells the camera to use those timer settings. you still need to press the shutter button to take the picture.

That's the problem. I set the timer and pressed "set", and when I press the shutter button all the way down, nothing happens. The timer doesn't count down on a fully charged battery.@@NikonD5200Channel

what setting are you on on the mode dial? have you tried other settings?

@@realgagne2956 Remember that the shutter button performs 2 functions - first to focus and set the exposure, then to open the shutter. If you just press the shutter button without allowing the camera to fix focus and exposure first, it won't be able to open the shutter.

Hello Joan, Have you seen my video on setting up the 4000D for video? That might help. There are a few reasons why the camera might stop shooting video. The most usual one is that it has hit it's time or file size limit. The camera will only record up to 4GB in any single shot. If you are shooting at full HD (1080) that will be around 11 minutes. Could it be this? With sound, I suggest you use manual, and set your peak (the loudest sound you intend to record) to -12 on the gauge. Let me know if this helps..

yes, take a look at an app called Canon Utilities. you can connect the camera to a laptop, vis a cable and shoot videos or take pictures with it.
