An easier way is to superglue a piece of wood to the surface of the damaged screen, heat up the edges of the screen with a hairdryer and just pull it off using the piece of wood. Takes 5 minutes and no disassembly of the camera required.

how do you get the battery door off? I've scoured the internet. mine doesn't seem to come off. has a screw on it too

You have to push the small screw which is in the axis, then the end of the axis retracts, then you can remove the door.

Very helpful video since I didn't want to try using a hairdryer and then prying the broken cover off, causing damage to my camera body. However, I wish you could have played a little bit more down to those of us that don't normally open up our electronics, and who don't understand the basic idea of how to disconnect and reconnect ribbon cables. I didn't realize that there was a little lever at the connector that you open to release the cable and snap shut to hold the cable in place. I'm afraid that I ruined one, if not all 4 ribbon cables because I didn't understand that. But, my new LCD cover looks great. Too bad the camera is dead!

Connect the flat cables, then put a small adhesive tape on the top covering the cable and the connector. That hold them togeter.
