Excellent review! The eye cup is not removable on the R6. Is it removable on the R5?

Good review, thanks. Sounds like a great camera. Its well out of my price range (and exceeds my needs) but looks like they have learned from other manufacturers and succeeded in including a lot of features where other manufacturers have traditionally been stronger, producing a very good end result. For my use and budget though I'll be sticking with my Panasonic G9 for a while, as I'm very happy with. 🙂

May I ask what lenses you use with the G9? I have a GH3 with a 20MM 1.7 and are looking for a good all around lens within a limited price range.

@@barahirsring2985 over the years I have built up a good collection of mft lenses. I have 3 zooms and a number of faster primes. What I would recommend depends on what you are mostly shooting/filming and what your budget is. Is it photography (landscape, street, or portrait?) or video (hand held vlogs, tripod vlogs or filming action/others?) Mostly outdoors in good light or low light (indoors or at night)? What is your budget? For handheld selfie type vlogs I'd recommend the Laowa 10mm manual focus as it's relatively cheap, small, lightweight and can take screw ND filters. For wildlife the 100-400 Pana Leica is brilliant, but expensive. For landscape the 7-14 and 14-140 zooms, for street the 15mm 1.7 (but that is close to your 20mm), for cheap portrait 25mm 1.7. Based on what I mostly shoot, if I could only keep one lens (or if I was starting from scratch) the one I'd go for is the 14-140 zoom, which is fantastic general/travel lens with huge zoom range. Can pick it up second hand for

Great overview. I tried the camera in store several times and generally liked it. The only disappointments were the mode dial (hard to press, but probably won't use it much), the mode dial wheel (felt too recessed), top lcd (text too large, laggy, prefer the 5d style ones) and some of the rear buttons. I found the q, info and zoom buttons were too small and recessed to press easily with my thumb. i also thought the AFon button was a too recessed compared to the * button (on 5d3/5d4 these buttons are on the same vertical plane). the body could also be marginally bigger. i am still deciding whether to get the r5 or wait for the r mark ii (30-32mp?) / r5 mark ii. at current prices the r5 is simply too expensive given its imperfections. also, the rf len pricing is ridiculous. RF70-200 f4 will be usd1600 at launch. that's almost EF f/2.8 prices!

$4,500 is a joke when you can buy a Sony A7iii for $1,700 ... I realized Canon had transformed into pure greedy corp. when they kept updating their super expensive lenses sometimes making it worse, ruined your investment on the used market.

Sony has a Pro line of cinema cameras that are made in Japan and are very expensive. Sony also makes cheaper cameras (mirror less) that are made in Thailand. These cheaper cameras like A73 have the worst resale value. Ever wonder why? Just remember "you’ll always get what you paid for.

I have the R5 and have had the a7iii. They're a night and day difference and are not remotely in the same league.

To each his own, $3900 USD is a good deal for the R5
