Superb video. Looking to get back into Landscape photography after many years break. Still have my old Canon lenses so wanted a cheap starter body to stop gap me for a while. You've defined everything I needed to know in this comparison especially discussing the ergonomics which is very important to me as a fellow sausage fingered guy! Battery life also swings it for me. Look forward to watching more content from you.

Terrific video, Joshua, and well explained. I'm also tall (193cm) and made exactly the same decision as you, for precisely the same reasons. 12 months on I haven't regretted my choice for a second. The 250D takes superb pictures - I've enlarged my range of lenses - and it's no exaggeration to say the functionality, "comfort" & ease of use of the 250D have re-invigorated my love of photography. I seldom leave home without taking it along. I'm also a filmmaker. While the cropping in 4K isn't ideal, once again, the quality is brilliant. For an often derided "entry level" camera, the 250D punches waaaay above its weight....

I agree with the argument about the size. I am a small guy with small hands and I prefer smaller cameras and I understand the argument from tall or big people about m50 or other smaller mirrorless cameras are too small for them. I remember in the past I've read some comments on the internet about this topic and some people, particularly from countries where they like big things, did not seem to understand why these cameras were small. It did not feel nice to read these. I think both groups should have access to sizes they feel comfortable with.

I started out with a Canon 450D back in the day and I was very confused when you said you started with a 250D. I was like “ you started with an even older camera than I did in 2009?” Had to look it up to realize that it (250D) is much newer than the 450D.

I bought the M50 ii and the first thing I did was bulk it up with a Smallrig cage, a side handle, hand strap, and a battery plate to take the big Sony batteries. Whack on a Sigma 17-50 f2.8 and it’s a big heavy 2-handed piece of kit. Take it all off and put on a 22mm pancake lens, and it fits in my jacket pocket. It’s a real ‘Transformer’ job 😅

Hello Sir, I've got some issues on my 250d camera. It doesn't shows low battery warning alert. It just suddenly gets turned off. Do you have any ideas please.
@TheJoshuaPeg2 жыл бұрын
Hi Kamal, are you using genuine Canon batteries? Some other 3rd party batteries don’t tell the camera they’re going flat

That was interesting, how the heck did you manage to string all that video together, that is impressive. I have a 250D, I use it for videos of machining parts for my channel. I use it fully manual and I really like the camera. Ergonomics are overlooked by so many folks. In another life as a wedding photographer, I found it impossible to get to grips with a Hassleblad 500C. Ended up with a Mamiya 645 with battery drive, it just worked for me. Last thing you need shooting weddings is a camera that does not fit you.

I still have a very important question, and that is, can the Canon 250D also shoot upright videos?
@TheJoshuaPeg Жыл бұрын
If you turn it on it's side, yes. I do it all the time. It doesn't have it as a cropped feature though

Got to admit when l was choosing my Nikon l did look at the Fuji and Sony cameras, they are so small with tiny little dials and buttons, l liked the ergonomics of the Nikon a lot better!

I am always surprised how the M50 is so popular but the M5 is ignored, for photography it's much better than the M50................yes I own an M5, I also have an EOS R (also slagged off) and a EOS R3 and I still use the M5 with it's small EF-M lenses probably 30% of the time.................as far as battery life, I got 1090 shots plus about an hour of review time (sitting in a pub after taking the pics) from one battery in the M5
