Using a xa40 for a short documentary! So happy with it
@bethwishes2685 жыл бұрын
I just bought the XA40. Love it except for this very serious issue; the files are automatically split at about 4GB, and when put together in a timeline of a project are supposed to be "seamless" and "continuous" but there is an audio drop out for the last couple of frames of each clip! So there's an audible gap in the audio! I've been dealing with support but still haven't gotten them to the point of understanding and acknowledging the nature of the issue. If you zoom into the footage, you can actually SEE that the audio ends before the video clip does. So of course this is unacceptable and I'm trying to get answers but to no avail. FYI I'm using Final Cut Pro and do NOT have this issue with any other camera I have (of different brands).

Hello Beth, You can use the MP4 Join Tool 1.0.0 for mac OS to combine the split clips prior to importing them into Final Cut Pro X. The software can be downloaded form the Canon website by clicking on the [Drivers & Software] button at this link: Canon.us/knnbv. You can find instructions on how to use this at the link here, Canon.us/7tl2a. If you have other questions our video support agents can provide one on one help. For support, please register your product to under your Canon Account at the link: Canon.us/mcahy. Once you log into your account, click the [Service & Support] link and select the support method. We hopes this helps.

Need Help!! I have a Canon XA20 with a WA-H58 Wide Attachment... Will it work on the Canon XA40 or do I need it?
@CanonUSA4 жыл бұрын
Hello: The XA40 can be used with the Wide Attachment WA-H58. ( See page 129 of the XA40 manual: Canon.us/tu5ef ). After attaching it to the camcorder, you must select this option under the [Conversion Lens] menu option. We hope this answers your question.

Does the mini-HDMI output of the XA45 have a 4K live feed resolution?
@CanonUSA3 жыл бұрын
Hi, Edoardo! When you view a live picture via the camera's HDMI connection, the XA45 has a maximum output resolution of full HD (1920 x 1080), including when you're recording at 4K. You can play back clips recorded in 4K via the same HDMI connection and they'll be shown at their full 4K resolution. Be sure to check the "HDMI Max Resolution" setting in the camera's menu to make sure 4K output (3840 x 2160) is enabled. Hope this helps!

Can you connect a android or iPhone to this camera by a cable to use as a monitor
@CanonUSA3 жыл бұрын
Hello: The XA40 can output video by HDMI while the XA45 can output by the HDMI or SDI terminals. You will need to check with your device maker to see if they can accept either of these connections or if you will need some type of interface or capture device to go between your phone and the camcorder. We hope this helps.

Hi Brent, I'm currently shooting with the Canon 80D. Would this camcorder be an upgrade?
@CanonUSA5 жыл бұрын
Hi! If your work primarily consists of video, we would consider camcorders like the XA45 and the XA40 to be an upgrade. These cameras are designed with the specific purpose of capturing video, and they can also capture clips exceeding 30 minutes in length. The EOS 80D offers the advantage of letting you capture video through the same lenses you use for photography, giving your videos the look of living photographs, whereas these camcorders use a built-in lens which is not interchangeable. Cameras like the EOS 80D, however, are designed with still photography as their primary purpose. While they can capture video, they're best used to capture relatively short clips under 30 minutes in length. We hope this information helps you!

I just got this camera and it only shoots in 25 and 50 FPS? This video and every other source says is shoots 24/30 in 4K and up to 60 in 1080? This camera is useless.
@CanonUSA4 жыл бұрын
Hello The NTSC video standard used in the United States and some other countries has frame rates such as 24, 30 and 60. Other regions such as Europe, most of Asia and Oceania, most of Africa and parts of South America, use the PAL standard. The PAL system has frame rates such as 50 and 100. If your camera only displays the options for 50 and 100 fps, it was intended for sale and use in a region that uses PAL. A user generally buys a camcorder compatible with the system in their geographic region. If you live in the United States, you may wish to contact our camcorder support for more information. They can be reached at 1-800-652-2666, Monday-Friday 8:00 am to 8:00 pm ET, excluding holidays

PAL?

@@CanonUSA I know what PAL is. It's the broadcast standard used in most of the world. Europe, Australia, Africa, South America, Asia except, I think Japan and South Korea. I don't understand why you wouldn't support it in all your cameras, my Canon DSLRs support both.
