Hi there,
(OK, seriously??? KZbin tells me this video has been seen over 420,000 times! How that happened I will never know, but I'm glad you're here! )
Want to improve your Cantonese tones and learn some Cantonese vocabulary? Then buckle up and get ready to learn from my mistake! :)
Yes, in my last video (the one where I introduce you to Patrick), I used the low-falling 4th tone when I should have used the low-rising 5th tone. I thought I was expressing myself correctly (obviously) based on what I thought I had heard native speakers using, and turns out this time I was wrong.
But you know what? Who cares! You will never learn to speak Cantonese if you don't make mistakes, and sometimes these can be hilariously funny; sometimes (hopefully not too often) they can be embarrassing, and sometimes you will flat-out make no sense. But one thing is for sure, if you can learn from your mistake, then you'll be that much closer to speaking Cantonese well and your mistakes will be fewer and farther between.
So have you made a mistake that resulted in laughter, tears or somewhere in between? Please feel free to share your stories below -- I'd love to hear them!
If you haven't already, please like the video (if you do!) and subscribe to my channel. Follow me on Facebook and Instagram (I keep promising to get on there more and soon I will!) and if you want to learn with me more formally, check out my lessons on www.cantolingo.com (more info below in the PPS).
Happy learning!
