You haven't watched KK. This much is abundantly clear. He's not lighting the world on fire but he's no where as NEAR as bad as you make him out to be. He had a rough year, he got quite unlucky for much of it. But he's a big center man, defensively responsible, and decent in the circle.

@ScottStenlund Of course there is a huge difference between Bedard and Stankoven. There's a huge difference between Faber, Luke Hughes and Bedard. I'm not saying Stankoven is going to be as good as Bedard. I'm saying he could've challenged Bedard for the Calder like Faber and L. Hughes challenges Bedard for the Calder this year.... and just like how Panarin "challenged" McDavid for the Calder and won it. Challenging for the Calder is not the same thing as being as good as the player with much higher potential. Anyways, Stankoven's value is definitely higher than a RFA Hronek and a draft pick of ours not name Lekkerimaki (or Williander).

@ScottStenlund No, he was a 2nd round pick. He wasn't picked in the first round because of his size. Actually, in his last year of the WHL, he was 2nd in scoring only behind Bedard. He was like top 5 in scoring in his last 3 years in the WHL I think and he was leading the AHL in scoring before the Stars called him up.

Whalers should keep Kotkaniemi; the advanced stats say he still played NHL game even if he didn't find the back of the net as much as people would like. Absolutely think he can bounce back next season.

There would be no point in trading for Kotkaniemi. He’s worse then Mikheyev, gets paid close to the same amount, and is signed til 2030 with a modified no trade. It would be ridiculous to pick up that contract.

Kotkaniemi was a reach when he was drafted and has proven an uninspired choice ever since. Definitely needs some redemption. If the price is right trade, his contract relative to what he's accomplished looks baaaaaaaaad so there needs to be salary retained or pick and players/prospects thrown in. Necas is more intriguing, prefer that potential.
