Hey man, thanks for stopping by my channel 🙂 I did...but only thanks to your excellent video. I'm not sure that I'd attempt this again though, I prefer buying them pre installed lol. Cheers again mate😉

I'm always amazed how many cps2s are around still with the original battery in, i bought 3 cps2s last month and all 3 were still on original battery's incredible considering those are coming up to 30 years old, i only had one out of the 3 that was dead jpn xmen cota, battery was dead and board suicided, i don't bother with infinity key much prefer to keep it original and put a new batt on and load in the keys with Arduino if it's suicided.

Hey mate, yeah I've always thought the same, it is amazing. I did think about keeping my boards original but then decided to give the InfiniKey a go. I think it works great, and I'm amazed that I managed to even install it haha I actually try to buy CPS2 boards now with this already installed, sometimes the sellers even give the option to install it if I contact them prior to purchase. How many CPS2 boards do you have? Thanks for watching :)

@@AussieFreakGamers i now have 36 boards all different regions, most i bought as dead boards that i repaired as thats the only way i can afford to buy them, working ones are quite expensive these days, i do conversions on some to games i like as well, my hollygrale is my Super street fighter 2 x japanese cps2, bought it new in Tokyo 1998 comes with it box and all the arcade artwork, its my favourite game.

@@Megalocade Wow!! That's an incredible amount of boards! I still only have 3 boards I think but I would love to own SSF2 X. That's the Grand Master Challenge board? having it boxed with all artwork, what a piece. X-Men COTA that I bought years ago. It was listed as original but when I opened it, it had been phoenixed! I didn't complain about it as the game still worked and I guess it saved me the hassle of having to change the battery or install the InfiniKey. It does bother me though that the seller listed it as original. I would like to buy a few more boards but you are right, so expensive. Everything has become even worse since the pandemic, people exploiting the situation. My issue at the moment is space, I'm running out of it haha

@@AussieFreakGamers yea space is an issue plus cost as well 36 boards is 36 batteries and can get quite expensive, i put holders in all of mine so its just a case of unclipping the old battery and pushing in a new one, the batteries with out leads are a lot cheaper thank goodness, i know what you mean about ebay listings its always hit and miss when they lable it as original, some folks really don't know so just list it as that, I've had one where it was listed as Marvel vs Capcom untested but when i booted it up its was X-Men vs Street Fighter lol someone either had put a new sticker on or new case, either way i didn't mind i just converted it to marvel vs capom, put a battery on and loaded the keys in, bought a new sticker and its a fine. I do like phoenix editions because it allows you to change the games region from the menu, on a normal board it would require changing the program roms, which funnily enough I've just done that on my street fighter zero 2 alpha, bought it from Brazil its in a green case loaded with the Brazil version, took the 7 program roms out erased them and loaded on the Japanese version, loaded the Japanese keys in and now you would never know it was a Brazil version as its in a jpn green case.

@@Megalocade that's a great idea using the battery holders! It certainly sounds like you know a lot about these boards, and how to fix and upgrade them. My technical skills on arcade hardware is very limited to be honest. Do you sell any of the boards that you fix? What are your thoughts on the Darksoft CPS2 multi boards? I have never bought one due the price, and the fact I like to pick up original CPS2 boards (even though I only currently own 3!). I was after the Darksoft CPS1 multi board as I think I only have 1 original board - Final Fight but I can't seem to find one available. On eBay local to me recently someone was selling a CPS1 multi board that he bought from Aliexpress. It's not a Darksoft obviously but looked like it works decent enough. The 1.5 CPS1 boards use sound hacks because the CPS1 lacks Qsound apparently. Anyway, I bought it from him just waiting for it to arrive...I hope I am not disappointed! if it works well it will be stuck in my Astro City for quite some time ;)
